Pay to Quit - Disappointed Posted: Nov 18th, 2024 - 6:11 pm In Reply to: Pay to quit - How much
Thank you for your response. This is where I failed so bad. It was in the contract, even though it is a bogus contract, it is legal, so it was binding. I had never heard of a 1099 employee/worker having a contract like this, so I was trusting that this was a legitimate outfit with decent people to work for. I wasn't looking for frills, lace and all the hugs in the world, just some sincere respect. The contact I agreed to was a 6-mo contract, but when I discovered how abusive she was I wanted out. Then I read the terms of the contract stating if I stayed for the full term she could charge me per error. Things like omitting words, even if I didn't change the context, leaving out or adding in commas or semicolons, etc. I've had my own business in the past and never treated my employees this way. And as I'm sure we all know, you're not going to get every single report 100% dramatically correct with every punctuation mark in place 365 days a year, 24/7. It's impossible, right? We all take pride in the work we do and want it to be as accurate as possible of course, and if we were dealing with the doctors themselves, they probably wouldn't care much as long as the meaning was clearly what he or she says, comma or not. I hope if anyone thinks about going to work for Lisa, the CEO and subcontractor for Versio, you give it some serious thinking, and above all, read the contract. I was only in training for 9 days (by the way she said she didn't expect to have to train me as I claimed to be experienced). Yeah, I am, some 35 years worth. I love what I do. She wanted to charge me 1700 dollars based on how many days I worked and the rate of pay based on the mandatory 1000 lines a day, after what she called the "ramp-up period". I told her no go and she asked for a counter agreement. The contract says you need to both agree. I told her she could keep any wages or pay I had accumulated to this point and lets call it square. She wasn't having any of that. She said she would choke back 75% and me pay 35%, so I ended up paying $313 and some change. I am still reeling from all of this, her demanding I be to work on my shift of noon to 5 for the ramp up. Everything had to be dealt with either by email or Skype as well. At one point I accused her of re-writing the rules of transcription, which I think she did and her response to me was "we make the doctors look good and have their backs". I could go on and on, but have vented long enough. Just be careful. The CEO lives in Sagle, Idaho and she does run the show. To my knowledge, I never did have anything to do with Versio, though my termination paper says I am black-balled from ever being hired by Versio again.
