The pay depends on the vendor but it is mostly by the line. Some places pay for spaces, some don’t. Some places pay by the page or by minutes of transcribed dictation.
Not even experienced MTs make 12 cents a line. It is more like 4-6 and there is very little straight typing because most places use voice recognition that requires editing. If you have a W2 you are probably going to have employee status and have an hourly wage, a 1099 if you’re an independent contractor.
