Not sure how it works with Aquity, but to become an IC requires a business license and you are responsible for paying your own taxes. You would forfeit employee status and any insurance, PTO or other benefits you currently have. I don’t think it’s possible to switch back and forth between IC and employee status depending on the workload and would have to be one or the other.
