NOT a good idea to take a job without knowing your rate of pay and certainly NOT AT ALL a good idea to start working without knowing the rate of pay. You could end up doing 2 weeks, 3 weeks, or a month worth of work before being paid and at very little to nothing wage.
I'm also curious if your contract says anything about deducting pay for errors.
I would very strongly wait and not do any work at all until you know your wage. This scares me, for your sake.
