I think the law has changed - Not absolutely sure

I think now the law says that the employer has to pay at least their portion if you are terminated. It’s probably different if you quit voluntarily or get fired for cause. When I used it, it was many years ago when I changed jobs and had a 3 month waiting period before the insurance with my new employer started. I paid the entire premium and it was very expensive. From your post, it kind of sounded as if you were planning ahead and still had a job. Thankfully, at least now there are other options for insurance that don’t involve employer coverage.
