Did not have any luck with playing other audio, checked audio settings and have reinstalled virtual machine, does not work. One thing I did notice is that when I stop editing in a middle of a job for even 30 seconds (when I jumped up to turn down the heat), the audio was gone when I got back. Thank you for your replies, I appreciate the suggestions.
