I am one of four true ICs for a medium sized specialty group. I have no schedule and do not have to let anyone know when I'm working, although if I'm going to be out a couple of days or more I do give them a courtesy notice. I negotiated my own line rate, which is different than the others, and send them my billing invoice every 2 weeks.
