I have observed from the beginning of transitioning to production/home workers in the 1990s that not all transcriptionists would be able to make more money. But the ones who had lots of shortcuts and learned lots of macros, who had a handle on the business aspect of working at home, and other skills that the hourly in-office worker does not think about, could make 3 to 5 times more by getting paid by the line at home. Even now with the lower pay rates, I make 2+ times more hour average than so many people here say they make.
