for numbers under 10 for the sake of clarity. It's been that way for, I'd say, at least 15 years now in medical writing. Unless your client is "old school" and wants them written out, always use Arabic numerals. Also agree with above, not possessive and no hyphens. If you don't have a copy of the BOS (Book of Style), here's a link to the Blue Book of Grammar that can answer general questions like this one.
