I walked my mom through the cancer process a year ago and had the same experience. When I sent my siblings the first email outlining the diagnosis and treatment they said they were glad I was the one that went with her because it was so well documented. Every appointment with someone new I would explain I was a transcriptionist so they knew they didn't have to explain every single medical word they used.

My ex-husband, when I still used to speak to him, was always asking me what every little pain or problem he had was. I don't know how many times I have told him, I'm not a doctor! However, a lot of times when people ask, I can at least give them some possibilities or tell them what they might research, and of course that they might want to consult an actual doctor.
