I have been approached by a large account and asked to consider taking on their work, but to make it feasible, I would likely need to hire a small group of transcriptionists who have done work for them in the past. These transcriptionists are only willing to come on board if it is as employees, rather than ICs. I am a very small company and have always used strictly ICs in the past, but I'm willing to consider the employee angle. My question is this: What is typical among benefits in the industry for part-time vs. full-time employees? What kind of sick leave, vacation days, etc.? Do you provide equipment? Do any of you offer insurance? I've already spoken to my accountant and am meeting with a labor lawyer to discuss more specifics, but wanted to see what the norm was. Thanks!
