Nuance

Info on TAA for anyone laid off or no longer with Nuance - sm

Posted: Apr 30th, 2018 - 6:51 pm

For those who are interested, I inquired about TAA today. I first went to the DOL website TAA page and then clicked on the contact us page. On that page, I clicked on state offices and found the TAA coordinator for my state and called the number listed. The state coordinator said no she hadn't been contacted by the Georgia state TAA coordinator where the Nuance petition was filed/approved so she would get in touch with them and get a list of Nuance workers to make sure my name was on the list. In the meantime, she had me contact my local workforce center to fill out the TA form, which I assume is the form requesting TAA assistance. Now it's a wait and see if the TA form request is approved or not. The state coordinator and local workforce center people are going to be in touch with me.

For those who are interested, I encourage you to go to the DOL website and find your state TAA coordinator and get the ball rolling.

Also, they didn't go over all the benefits with me but one of them they did mention is that if approved for the benefits, they do pay for schooling to go back and learn a new trade.  You don't have to do that right away though, it is a lifetime benefit until you use it. So if you don't want to go to school now, but if later on you decide you want to retrain for something new, you can and they will pay for it.

Anyways, I hope this helps for those who were wondering about TAA.
