This has been happening for many years, it is not all of a sudden.

There was even a time back in the early 1990s when the IRS was so fed up with IC MTs getting behind on their taxes, they created the Statutory Employee status. It worked for a while, a few companies still abide by it, but mostly it disappeared.

Companies switched to employee status to get MTs to ;eave their lower paying hospital jobs to work on production for them and make better money, which we did. It also meant they could make you work a strict schedule.

Now with VR, Dragon, EMR and Indians doing better work because of being trained and QA'd by American MTs, we are no longer valued as we once were. Add to that the bottom line for hospitals is to get records done as cheaply as possible.

It used to be a great way to make a living. Sad that it is not anymore.
