If you landed a new job months ago, the professional thing would have been to give a 2-week notice. But, as you just got the job (lucky you!) at the end of an era, absolutely not unless you wanted to.
We also got a 2-week notice. As crappy as it may seem, so many people don't even get that when they lose their jobs like this. Where I live, people have shown up to their job sites only to find a note on the door and the place shuttered. (Several restaurants and a Lowe's pulled this beyond sh*tty maneuver.)
I always like to keep several references from the most current employer though, so maybe you'd like to contact them about getting that permission/information before you lose contact with everyone with the changeover.
