Send an email and request immediate pay (m) - showmethemoney

Give them a max time limit of 3 days at the MOST.

If no money then send out a, Certified/Return Receipt Requested, Demand letter. There are templates you can use on the internet. Make sure you provide any verification that supports your demand (Copies ONLY) and this time request immediate payment verification (ie. direct deposit info or tracking for a check etc.).
Add that you are prepared to escalate your claim if you do not hear from them immediately.

Be prepared to suspend working. At this point you can't guarantee any pay and would not want to compound an already bad situation. You are an IC and IC's don't work for nothing. So when they pay up then think about working for them again (think hard).

If you still have no pay then file a claim with the Department of Labor and send a letter letting the company know that you have had to resort to a DOL claim. This may motivate them, but if it doesn't you still have the claim moving through the process. You can also consider seeking legal advice. Some of the State Bar Assn have a pro bono program where you can get legal representation for free. Attorneys have a certain amount of hours they need to donate (pro bono work) and this is definitely something to look into.

Good luck and don't be intimidated.
You did the work and it is not their choice of whether they pay or not. Be firm and demand your pay. Good luck!
