You have to consider your personal goals and reasons for working, not just what other people in different situations from yours might think. You have pretty accurate information about how things are here. Personally, I have never ever considered "happiness" as a factor regarding employment. If you have many more years to work, it would be wise to retrain for something else. As I am 65 and getting 3 retirement checks, I don't give a hoot about what happens to me with MM, it's just something to occupy my time, but I am sure very fewer MTs are in this position.
