Because if they can get everyone to increase their production then it looks like a raise without actually giving one. They are already cracking down on inactive time and now on discrepancy time.
So no you are not paranoid. They have no intent of ever giving raises, they will just find ways of squeezing more work out of their current employees.
By the way, there are always pricing pressures with this company. It is how they justify not paying more money into the 401K or giving raises. They are wasting money on an ASR program that cannot learn and wasted money on a coding program that looked good for investors but no one else. It is hard to have money left over when you are wasting it.
