If somebody is working for extra money, they are not entitled. I also think that many of us "younger" transcriptionists have come up in a different economic environment where the only people we have any hope of looking out for our interests and to treat ourselves right is our ourselves. The economic environment that existed for my grandparents and for my mother (for a time) no longer exists. Being treated well by an employer, getting good benefits, etc. are not something we have had the benefit of experiencing for long.
Personally, I have a lot of respect for most in this field, no matter what age they happen to fall into. For those who are hoping to hang onto retirement, I hope they are able to keep their jobs long enough and make enough money to live comfortably. For those who are younger, I hope they are able to find a way to meet their financial obligations and still take care of their families in this financial system that is definitely skewed away from the workers.
