Imedx question in IC - wc

as an IC, how does that work? If they have work, you work and if not you don't (sort of like now, haha) and you set your own hours and when you will work? Difference is you have to pay your own taxes, etc.?? Also, do you have to do the line count and no minimum wage for a regular employee or do you have to do what they do for line count?
