You are an IC. Whether you use a lawyer or not, the judge will rule in your favor. Big deal. Now you get the fun job of collecting which is the boat you are in now. Think of Nicole Simpson's family winning that huge settlement from OJ. He did not pay, and that family had to then hire yet more lawyers to get him to pay some pittance of what he owes. Big deal that he is sitting in jail over that civil case fiasco - he still does not pay!
So here's the lesson to be learned - get out from under non-payment right away because you as an IC are so limited in protection.
