Just because there are shifts on the swapboard is not a guarantee there will be work there anyway.
They have been messing around with this swapboard idea for years. They used to lock people out of the system unless it was their shift. It lasted about 2 weeks until they realized that was a stupid idea. Perhaps the swapboard is an easy way for management to keep track of how many OT hours were worked or whatever, but for the employee it is a giant PITA. So I try to avoid it at all costs.
