I also moved to the UK temporarily as my husband got a six month job assignment there. I had an IC job that I was at for about three years so when I went to the UK I just did this same job from there. I kept my old US address and same bank account, but I did not tell my employer I was going to be in the UK for six months. I'm not even sure if that is legal or not, but since I was an IC I just didn't say anything and it all worked out good.
