benefits. If the company picks up part of the cost of benefits (health insurance, etc.,) for it's employees, their bottom line is affected by how many employees they have. So, if they have a choice between 1 benefits-eligible person who produces 10,000/lpp or 2 benefits-elible people who produce 5000/lpp each, they make a bigger profit employing the first person.

The company's cost of benefits per employee affects the bottom line.
