I know he gets painted as the great American Hero of the working man, but I would suggest that you watch the PBS documentary "Henry Ford. He started the $5.00 a day wage because no one would work in his factories, the working conditions were atrocious and even to earn the $5 workers had to meet certain criteria, it was not a guaranteed wage. Ford was a notorious anti-Semite and not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. He fought labor unions tooth and nail until he was forced to make Ford a "union shop" and treated his own son badly. So, think twice about your hero.
