Our entire system is converting to EPIC. So far our pathologists do not want to use voice recognition but realistically it is only a matter of time before they have no choice. The pathologists are employed by the medical school and our laboratory is operated by the hospital. I have worked in pathology exclusively for 36 years, on site and the pay has always been and still is great. When the conversion is complete I will be retiring. We have known for some time it was coming but they have not been open about how it will change our department. As it stands, Pathology is the only department in our system with on site transcriptionists.
