They would face stiff fines for a HIPAA violation. This woman got away with it because she is in Pakistan, where HIPAA rules are not enforceable.
Kudos to the MT in FL who paid this woman off to keep her from releasing private medical records because she was not paid. I hope she can sue the male transcriber who outsourced UCSF's work! UCSF had no idea any of their work was outsourced!
