lymph nodes description - krb

mediastinoscopy with dissection of level 4 right and left nodes. Doc says what s/l 'antithotic' and enlarged lymph nodes. These lymph nodes were hard and suspicious for metastatic disease. I cannot figure this out PLEASE HELP

On mediastinoscopy and lymph node dissection, all nodes appeared *-* and enlarged at the level 7, left level 4 and right level 4 positions. At the right level 4 position, some nodes were notably firm and stuck, suggesting metastatic disease.

that is one of the spots, and it comes out in all 3 cases as 1 word. Ptotic would have fit if 'and' was not there, but he is consistent in the use.

He also describes the patient as diagnosed with FDG-avid lung mass as well as multiple PET-avid nodes at levels 2, 4, and 7.

could be mispronouncing adenitic - and saying adenotic...

...as in the adjective form of adenitis.

on further look, I believe adenotic is acceptable - ...as in adenosis

It is ANTHRACOTIC lymph node - sm

Anthracotic. Not the other guesses . . . ptotic and adenitic do not even make sense here.

The nodes are black from carbon particles that were inhaled. Usually the result of smoking.

This patient has prostate cancer, but somehow or other the paraaortic lymph nodes or periaortic lymph nodes are involved. I have googled and found both spellings, but for the life of me I can't figure out which is correct. "This showed a 1.6-cm retroperitoneal lymph node in the low pelvis anterior to the inferior vena cava suspicious for metastatic disease." There are so many lymph nodes in the body. Even looking at an anatomy diagram, I can't figure this out. Help!! ...
