Echo Dictation - Missy

Posted: Jul 23, 2011

For those who work with echo dictation -  from what I understand, it's useful for straight transcribing, but does it work in VR? I'm thinking of investing in it, but can't understand how it would be useful in a VR program, which is where everything will be in just a few years.  I would think it wouldn't work in a non-Word program since you can't cut and paste, and even if it did, you'd be editing twice.  Thanks for any info!

You can download a shareware version of dragon and try it for yourself in the Word platform. It works in Meditech, and that is a non-Word based program. It works in other programs as well, such as your email, and Word Perfect.

My opinion is that I can type faster than I can think or write, so why would I want to slow myself down, and to boot, get paid less for it? Granted, some days I may feel like my fingers or brain don't work, but other days I don̢۪t' feel like talking, and being forced to do echo dictation is not a money producer in my book.

Stick with your platforms and a great shortcut or quick word program and build your speed that way, not by going backwards.
