Stop the accusations and personal attacks. SM - Moderator

If you love VR work and do well with it, great.  However, you must allow those who are not having such success with it to have their own threads and discussions without interrupting.

If you hate VR work and think it is the demise of this career, great.  However, you must allow those who are successful with it to have their own threads and discussions without interrupting.

For the threads where someone is asking for assistance with VR, wanting to be more successful, asking for tips and shortcuts, etc., either be supportive or don't respond to that particular thread.

The pro-VR and anti-VR folk will have to share this board, period.  Don't turn this into a Hatfield vs McCoy war.

REMEMBER:  The VR board serves two purposes:

1. To discuss VR/Speech Recognition in this industry - how it is changing it, etc. We expect there to be debate, lively discussion, etc., on this topic.  DO NOT GET PERSONAL AND MAKE ACCUSATIONS OR START NAME-CALLING.  STICK TO THE TOPIC AND BE RESPECTFUL.

2. To share tips for VR/Speech Recognition editing.  NOTE: We will NOT tolerate bashing or attacks on any threads that are about providing tips for VR editing.

might let others know it is something you can do. I posted how I keep my foot pedal down, scanning as fast as possible and a poster above tried it and thanked me for the hint, said it worked for them.
I really wonder why they couldn't figure this out on their own! - basics

Basics, I guess that is why they have this board - VR lover

So others can share how they do VR. I noticed on another board several shared their own ways for this and ours were similar. Trying to hold the foot pedal down might seem simple for us but use of mouse versus using keys and other hints might give others a head up.
I'm finding that doing VR does require different "basics" - than straight MTing. sm

I've been so busy concentrating on building expanders, standards, etc, and finally realized that's important, but not near as important as getting into a rhythm with the pedal and the audio. It takes a different mindset to do VR. What are basics to some is a complete new learning experience for others, even if they are very experienced at straight MT. I can use all the help I can get, and yes, it's good to read about possibilities (high and low counts) so I can set realistic goals.
True, but what I meant, the VR must be extremely good if one - sm

can afford to leave one's foot constantly on the play-foot pedal.

Not so if I have to make corrections in every line. Then how is this a good hint to heighten production?

It's like telling somebody, "run as fast as you can down the street and don't mind the traffic lights and the cars!"

If you have to make corrections in every line then - you probably do not have a good

VR system and it might just stay that way.
Only one way to find out. I guess we all have to give it a - chance or just up and quit right now. nm

I think there are quite a few people who probably - will quit, very scared of VR
[ In Reply To ..]
I think it is because of the unknown. People see where places are paying 4 cpl and thinking it just cannot be done, ever. If more would take the idea of making it work at 4 cents rather than taking a failing attitude and not trying, I think they might be surprised. I had 2 regular dictations today and I just wished every single one that came through was VR. I am not new to this business, have many years in but once I got bit by VR, just want to do that and nothing else.
that's good to hear, thanks - nm

There is an alarming increase in complaints regarding moderation on MTStars boards recently, but please remember: moderators are people too. Font Question
Feb 05, 2010

I have a question about font-  What font do you all use when typing an office note.  I have been using arial 12, but recently my dr told me it was too heavy...and that I need to downsize it.  He gave me an example of what it should look like but I don't even think this is arial font at all!  Is there a specific font I should be using?  Thanks! ...

Need Shorthand 10 Help With Font . . . .
Feb 19, 2010

Don't know why this is not working . . .  I need to get the "Suggestion Window Font" to a bigger size.  I have changed the font to say Times New Roman 14 and it shows that it changed it in the "Suggestion Window Font" but when I go into my report and run a shorthand word it stays small, never changed.  I got everything else to a bigger font except for this.  I hit "okay" after I changed it. Any suggestions would be appreciated!  Thanks!     ...

This isn't directly related to MT, but is in a round-about way.  I've done something to cause my font size in certain areas to be smaller, and it's driving me crazy!  I don't know how to describe exactly where it is happening, but it is the font at the top of the tabs in IE, in the side menu (listing my mail folders) in my Outlook mail, the font in Word at the top of the page (toolbar and file, edit, view, etc.), in some message boxes, etc.& ...

Changing Font In Word

I know I probably should know this, but I can't figure out how to change the font in Word so that it will come up with the same font everytime it is open.  I have an account that needs 11 and mine is 12, so I have to change it for each report and once in a while I forget and, of course, QA jumps on me for that.  So, can anyone tell me where to go on my computer to change the Microsoft Word font to default to 11 so it will be automatic?  I truly appreciate your help in th ...

Chartscript Font Switching?
