Word expander program messing up. - adkmt

I have Sylvan Software's Shortcut program, which I have had for 4 years now. Lately, it has been screwing up on me. When I do something like add a letter in editing, such as an a, it will put in an expansion as if I typed a two-letter abbreviation, like ua for urinalysis, or aa for aortic aneurysm. Also, if I add a comma, it will throw in an expansion randomly, at least it seems random.

Could it be that the program is old? Can they get old? This is a fairly new install of the program because I got a new "used" computer not long ago, but this didn't start immediately when I got the computer. I installed the program from the disk and then added my saved expansions from my external drive. I have been having a few keyboard problems like keys sticking, particularly the Ctrl key, so could it be my keyboard? I hope so, because I would like a new one, lol.

Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

I use shortcut as well and I had some similar problems like you described and I believe it was conflicting for some reason with Autocorrect. I too, have been using this product for years and usually without any problem. I did find out, however, that some platforms are not compatible with using Shortcut. Editscript is one, Cerner is another and I believe there was one other program that I could not use Shortcut with. I recently had to do the same thing with installing on another computer, but have not had any problems with it. FYI, if you can't get anyone at Sylvan to help you, Superior Global Solutions is the company that originally developed the program and I believe there is a number listed on their website. HTH.

I hadn't thought about it conflicting with something else. Maybe something can be adjusted in the auto correct settings. I'll look into it. Thanks again.
