Nuance training -- very overwhelming. - Anon

Posted: May 02, 2012

Is anybody else overwhelmed by the exhaustive training program provided by Nuance?  I just went through this and really had a hard time uploading their videos and getting into all the programs.  Also the fact that they do not help too much.  Maybe I am just slow as I am getting up there in age.  It does make a difference when you are older.

Did anybody get so discouraged that they just threw in the towel and quit?  I am not at all surprised that someone would quit with this complicated training program.

I just started last week with Nuance and also went through all the training. I agree that it was just overwhelming. I have been a transcriptionist for 11 plus years but this was too much. The only thing I really needed training on was the escription platform which I do like a lot and each day gets a little better so hang in there. I also "am up in age" but really do like it. Have probably 60% VR and the rest straight typing so far

This is the exact reason having someone - else going through SM

training available on IM messaging saved my butt. I went through this with another company and I would have had a breakdown if I didn't have another MT (who understood things a little differently than I did) help me out. I am also up there in age and I think it does make a difference as far as retaining too much information at any given time. I really don't have experience in computer programs/computer platforms, but I can learn it if someone helps me learn it. I didn't grow up using computers like the younger generation has. It seems the transcription experience is just a second thought at this point. Is there anyone who is on your account who you could reach out to? I had to ask my lead to put out email to my team asking anyone who wanted to hook up to email me. It worked for me but I think part of it was just luck.

I did not find it exhaustive at all. Self-paced, can review the class... - see message

if I need. I took lots of notes and there is good documentation. Also my TS and the trainer have answered my questions.

It is the most hands off training I have ever had. For an experienced MT who has worked for a few other companies it is a breeze. For someone relatively new to the biz, I think they need to be more human oriented in the training.

It is basically being trained by a machine. Do you know that I have never spoken personaly to my TL. That is bizarre to me but that is the Nuance way. No human contact AT ALL at any point.

Completely agree and put off by this. - Suzy Q

I too have never had training quite like this -- is this the new modern approach to training. Just goes to show you don't really need humans anywhere do you???? Well they tried to replace us with a machine, but that did not work, did it???? Nope, to their great disappointment, Speech Wreck did not replace us, but we are paying the price anyway.

I am old andn retired. Maybe I do not belong here anymore, since I am from another generation -- one that valued human approach. As said above, I was greatly put off by this new approach and really shocked to think that they no longer need people.

Talk about lack of communication? Who uses - automated training sessions?

This is wierd and you have never spoken to TL personally? Wow.

I do know that lots of TLs lack in communication skills when it comes to MTs, but this is a bit over the top and so is having a computer train your newly hired MTs.

I had a live followup session with a trainer so that I could ask questions... - see message

All my questions were answered and it was with a live human being. :)

Training For 7.1

About 6 weeks back I finished the training for 7.0.  We were then told that go live was August 20, and that we had to do new training.  I just did it.  Ladies and gents, I am sorry to say I am scared to death.  First of all, I have ADD, and it is hard for me to understand things right away.  I am not stupid, but only a person with ADD understands what I am saying.  I am going to go over all the training again and again, as that is how I learn things (even in college ...

Who Is Training ASR??? Definitely Not The MT!
Jul 04, 2013

Every day ASR gets increasingly of base.  There are so many times when I have to sit and search each line looking for anything that remotely resembles what is being clearly dictated. It started out with maybe 35% accuracy before editing.  Now it barely makes 20%. It inserts phrases that were never dictated, apparently just because that dictator dictated that phrase at one time in the past on a different patient.  It is having fun with "ALLERGIES" now.  It started off only usi ...
