NUANCE/FIESA = PATIENT SUFFERING - SM

Posted: Mar 23, 2014

It doesn't take a PhD in psychology to figure out that if someone is beaten down long enough, that person will begin to believe they are inferior, they will lose self-confidence in their job and their mistakes will increase.  The punitive effects of FIESA on behavior and morale will ultimately manifest in more errors.  As a result, some of those errors will find their way to patients' charts.  Most of us used to receive praise, gratitude and a decent way to make a living.  Morale was good.  We were proud of our job and proud of our employer.  We worked very hard and always answered the call of duty when overtime was requested.  We were rewarded with respect, sincere (not empty) thank-yous and again, a decent pay check, not some piddly pay check worthy of a sign spinner job.

My psychiatrist told me. . . - sm

(I see him for a life-long problem of depression) that all FIESA does is guarantee to upset me, leading me to make more mistakes. BTW, he is a doc at a top teaching university in the US.

I'm the OP - sm

For the dislikes, which crack me up, let me know what kind of data Nuance has as far as how well FIESA motivates/helps/encourages the MTs. Then we can compare and decide who is right, my doc and me or Nuance.

I think you need to reword your post. - I began this thread. OP

Maybe you meant OP for the post regarding the psychiatrist statement? At any rate, we are in the same boat and I wish the best for all of us.
Yes, you are correct. Sorry! - nm

you can afford a psychiatrist - on Nuance pay??

[ In Reply To ..]
lucky you! the EAP counselor they sent me to pretty much said the same and told me to move on from this situation. even EAP can't stick up for a company like Nuance!

I'm the OP about the psychiatrist - Sm

I pay $117 for a 15-minute med check every 3 or 4 months.

He's absolutely correct!! I can no longer afford to see a psychiatrist for my depression/insomnia nor any doctor for that matter with this insurance plan and no copays. How much worse can all of this get?

I feel the pain, anger, and frustration of all of you who are "stuck" in the medical transcription field and see no easy way out. It is difficult to believe that a very lucrative and fun field has been turned into an extreme nightmare for MTs. After 30 years as a medical transcriptionist, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to seek a new career and escape from what has become such a pathetic situation. I really hope you can find something else to do which is enjoyable, pays a decent wage, and is better for your physical and mental health. Good luck in your searches!

Completely agree. I've just been hired back into the industry I was in prior to this "nightmare," and couldn't be happier. I'm free!

Accounts Changed Around And Line Count Suffering
Dec 20, 2010

Hi everyone. My supervisor recently added a new account to my pool and made it priority #1. Now I was just starting to get my line count up to where I could actually earn a decent living to support myself (I am newly divorced and trying to make it on my own in a 1 bedroom apartment yet still very tight). A little background--our company recently switched to M-Modal and the voice quality is horrible on a lot of reports and my pay had gone down anyway because a good majority of our reports are on ...

Nuance QA FIESA BS
Jan 05, 2013

I believe I am keeping a family in India up. I have a little person especially assigned to me to go through every comma and nit-pick every single thing I do to not make bonus. I am so glad I am able to keep a family up in India while my pay is dwindling as I sit all day and do every single ESL hard as heck dictator as it is assigned and marked as a STAT to me. ...

Nuance Ambulatory MTs & FIESA
Oct 11, 2014

I work with the ambulatory team (ortho clinic notes). I have 2 exclusive dictators and 2 that are shared with a couple other MTs. I was originally with On~Time Transcription. We were acquired by Accentus, and Accentus was acquired by Nuance a short time later. The Nuance acquisition took place in November 2012 I believe, and we were switched from IC to employees earlier this year in April. I’m not completely clear on what FIESA is and how it works, but from what I have read it isn&rs ...

New To Nuance...FIESA Feedback
Jan 09, 2015

Okay so I just started and I have some reports arleady on FIESA.  Some of them are due to errors that I didn't know about because, after a myriad of requests, my TSM never sent me my account specifics.  I wrote that in the feedback section. I know while in training this is no big deal, but right now my accuracy shows at around 98%.  I pride myself on my work, and these weren't my fault.  I tried clicking on the "reversal request" section but nothing happened. Have ...

Why Did I Look At FIESA????
Aug 26, 2012

I knew I shouldn't have looked at my FIESA from Saturday but I did.  Majority are 100% so for that I am grateful but THEN there are the others where you are marked off for stuff that make no sense and then there are the stupid errors that I did and will own up to and wonder where my brain was when I was typing - I think my brain was so worried about being marked off for every little thing that I honestly can't concentrate sometimes like I need to. ...

FIESA...
Sep 14, 2012

I know we complain and complain about this on here and we fight and argue with the TLs about this...I was marked off half a point for EACH blank that I left on a dictation that the tape cut out.  The only explanation from QA was that "it was clearly understood".  I am just wondering how it was clearly understood.  I went back and listened to the tape and sure enough where I had blanks, the tape was cutting out.  So why am I being marked off for blanks.  Then on a few ot ...

FIESA B.S.
May 30, 2013

Okay, first quarter FIESA reviewed about 80 reports of mine and I actually got my incentive.  Now for this quarter, I am wavering on not getting my incentive with a 98.88 and for the past few weeks they have not reviewed a single one of my reports.  I smell something fishy.  This whole FIESA thing is to a) review enough reports a quarter so you fall below 99 and then b) if you are below 99, stop reviewing reports so you are stuck there with no chance to bring it up!  How fric ...

ANOTHER FIESA LIE
Jun 28, 2013

our post-audit reports are randomly pulled.  If you score high enough to get the bonus, your reports are gone through by the hatchet queens in India until they can find a report they can "audit" to bring you below 99%.  If you are kicked back to 98.99%, they still meet their contract requirements to the client, and Nuance does not have to pay you a bonus.  ...

Need FIESA Help - Sm
Sep 09, 2013

I almost always get my critical errors on one particular doctor who I think I understand and then it turns out I miss something.  I think there is a way to do a report on critical errors and see if I can trend the dictator but I can't figure out how.  Does anybody know?  And before you tell me to ask my TSM I did but as usual never got an answer. ...

FIESA AND QA- SM
Oct 08, 2013

Much as I dislike FIESA and all this QA, what I really hate is finding out I've been typing something WRONG for 30 years.  The only thing I can say for myself is some QA decades ago filled it in for me and I didn't look it up.  Been typing Campo's fascia instead of Camper's fascia. Took a 1-point post-audit hit on it, too.  Shakes me up, what else have I been doing wrong for 30 years?  And will it knock me out of bonus territory next quarter... ...

FIESA Again
Nov 22, 2013

I just got a post-audit review with 4 points deducted for 1 critical and 1 major error that were made by QA1 after I submitted a report with blanks by the dictator from hell. I'm so mad and all the things you can imagine, not to mention I'm sitting here bawling from total frustration. ...

NOT LOOKING AT FIESA
Apr 01, 2014

I must admit, I never looked at FIESA, not only because it was depressing and humiliating, but its not the most user friendly site. My manager was constantly badgering me for not looking at it though and actually had me try to get on the other day when she called. How do other people get away with not looking at it? I wish I could get out of this company. It's depressing, demeaning and humiliating. ...

Take THAT Fiesa!
Apr 27, 2014

Just for "fun," I counted how many times I prevented a critical patient safety error today by catching the speaker saying the wrong age, gender, right vs. left, hyper versus hypo, you get the picture.  I quit counting at 8.  Never in my many years at Nuance have I made 8 CPSEs in 1 day.  So are we getting credit for the good work we do?  Not very likely. ...

Fiesa 98.7%....
Jul 08, 2014

Got a report back below 99%--Actually 98.7% with only 0.25 point reduction...for what?  Not typing DICTATION ENDS HERE on a report that only had part of the first sentence dictated....and I have to sign off that I reviewed this?  The report was sent to NHR for review with a note--INCOMPLETE DICTATION.  Okay, next time I type dictation ends here, but scoring this is ridiculous.  Why is this even an error--should have just been an  FYI--the report was never going to make i ...

An Example Of How Fiesa Does Not Help
Jul 28, 2014

I was having a good day, until I went into Fiesa...I have decided that one particular dictator--who speaks what he probably considers fluent English (He is American), is going to review for every report because he is the one I get poor scores on... I am constantly guessing if he said "and" or "in" or "on," and I missed a period....he backtracks, leaves words out, stumbles, and CANNOT pronounce even the simpelist of medications...let alone spell them, he spells them wrong too, hard to even under ...
