MT Tier pay scale - kcmt

Posted: Mar 29, 2012

Hello:

Can anyone tell me if there is a pay scale for each tier on the MModal MQCentral page?  I cannot find anything.

I am interested in having some concrete evidence when I ask for a raise as I am a Tier III being paid at a Tier I level according to what I read on a previous post.

Thanks in advance!!

I'm not sure, but keep in mind those are just max pays - sm

Those numbers are just the maximum that you will ever be paid at that tier level and doesn't mean you should be making that much. I'm not saying you don't deserve it, just don't expect them to give you a raise to match it.

Above poster is right - those are "max" pays..sm

Even though you can get a raise, they will base it on years experience, work quality/work habits etc.

There are other factors that play into ability to get a raise besides tier level.

But by all means, if you are paid at tier 1 level and you are tier 3, I would most certainly ask.

Good luck getting a raise - anon

Being in a higher tier and getting paid for a lower one is very common with MQ. I have been with MQ for close to 16 years and I haven't had a raise for the last 8 years, and have only had 2 raises in the 16 years I've been here. Good luck with all that.

anon - are you capped out for your tier level? - have you ever asked?

Another thing to consider, have you had trouble - with

being on 100% QA? or complaints from clients? Critical errors? Work quality factors into raises.

And yes, if you are capped out at top pay, the likelihood of getting a raise is low.
I'm an MME, no quality issues at all - anon

Before becoming an MME I was consistently at 99% or above QA rating. I've been told by my CCM that I'm at the peak of my pay scale potential but I've read on this board that people who have been here for shorter period of time are being paid more for similar work. I've been paid 0.09 transcription, 0.055 edit, and 0.03 for MME work forEVER.

I'm tier 3 and make less than 0.08. I wonder if there are minimum rates for each tier? I think we should at least make a minimum amount for the tier we are in.

More than any of the other issues, I am just wanting the profession to survive, so I was very happy to see the statement in the e-mail that despite technology, transcription will remain an essential element of documentation for the foreseeable future.

I dont understand all these fluctuations in pay - I guess I should be

thankful I started out with a decent amount for my tier level.

However, it sounds like there may be a chance for increased compensation in some form or another based on that email. I try to stay optimistic and think it would be a waste of time for them to go through the trouble of having these annual MT mtgs and hiring this lady to take at look at these issues regarding MTs if they were not sincere.

I mean why pay her the salary to come in and try to do something to help us if they had no intentions on making things better?

Again, I do think they base pay on skill level as far as difficulty and years experience, work habits, quality issues etc. Could be maybe they think some do well enough that they dont need a raise...I dont know, just my thoughts.

Bottom line - you can do it for 0.08 a line or they will threaten you that a MT in India or Pakistan will do it for 0.02 a line. It's not going to get any better until some of the crappy work that I have seen from India and Pakistan has to be used in a court of law - then maybe the hospitals and medical centers will go back to paying professional MT's.

As I understand it, it doesn't matter if you're a tier 10....if you send more than 2 or 3 reports to QA, you are paid tier 1 for any reports going to QA after that during that pay period...thanks to the "First Time Right" idiots who came up with that precious policy. Needless to say, if I get a very long report and have a blank within the report that isn't that important as I see it (diagnosis/labs, medication etc), you can bet your life I bypass QA and send it on. If they won't pay me tier 3 rate, it's not going to QA. That all might catch up with me, but at this point I don't care. I need to live and pay my bills too.

You can call yourself an MT and work for: 1.  A single provider nonspecialist. 2.  A multiprovider/multispeciality clinic. 3.  A primary hospital. 4.  A secondary hospital. 5.  A TERTIARY hospital.   You can do "ops" with any of these jobs.  However, at a tertiary hospital you will have patients who have failed treatment at primary and secondary hospitals.  Tertiary hospitals are teaching and research institutions where you will encounter research p ...

Tier Up
Oct 15, 2009

I was just informed that I HAD to tier up.  Has anybody else been told that one?  I don't want to tier up.  I don't get much NJA and I like the accounts I work on.  I was told that I MIGHT get a raise if I did, but there was no guarantee.  Why would I want to tier up without getting a raise doing the next tier's work?  I just don't get it and I never will.  ...

Do you type ALL work types, including tier 1 and tier 2, correct?  My CCM implied that tier 3 does ONLY operative reports?? I'm tier 2 and I think I would like to try OP reports, as I've been tier 2 for quite a while.  Don't want to NOT do consults and H&Ps though.  Not expecting a raise of course, but would just like to try something different.  And maybe get NJA less often.   What do you all think?     If you do type all, what pe ...

This really sucks because those reports have the highest line counts, while Tier 3 does all the testing reports such as cardiology, eeg, cath reports, and surgeries. Tier 3
Apr 06, 2013

What might be  happening is MM is keeping high producing Tier 3 employees and India will get all the easier work.  Tier 3's in America will do the hardest dictations and worst dictators.  The MME's in America will then be correcting more work because India will be doing everything else.  Just trying to figure out what is going on. Also, I think MM had to do something about the no work situation, either get more accounts or layoffs.  They decided layoffs. Than ...

Just How Many Tier 3s ARE Left?
Mar 02, 2010

I hit the ceiling last week and quit after 12 years with MQ part-time. I started as a tier 3 and ended as a tier 3.  Topped out.  I was making close to $20/hr and ended at $10/hr thanks to ASR.  My submission rate was apparently too high for them for Jan and Feb.  Well, what do they expect?  Shyte dictation equals shyte transcription, but I'll be damned if I am going to risk someone's life just to fill in a blank, and this was before they rolled out this "First ...

Tier Question
Apr 14, 2010

I work for another MTSO too that doesn't have the tier system.  I get just whatever report comes into my job pool from clinic to ops.  I've been at MQ for about 3 years now.  CCM keeps wanting me to tier up to tier 3 so I can start doing the ops notes because we don't have enough 3s right now.  However, I won't get a raise by tiering up.  To me the only incentive to tier up would be more money.  After I told CCM that I wouldn ...

Going Up To Tier 3...worth It Or No?
Jan 03, 2013

Just wondering if it is worth it to test up to tier 3 or not.  I wouldn't mind getting more in my work pool (especially as things have been a bit slim lately with the holidays), but had heard there was no pay increase for moving up a tier, plus was worried that I'd have to spend more time in research for the first while getting used to the new work, hence slow production down.  Any thoughts?  Thanks in advance! ...

Is It Bad That I Don't Want To Tier Up And Just Want To Do My Job And Forget About It

This job has served me well for the purpose I intended. I was able to stay home with my kids while they were growing up and supplement the household income.  Now, after being with this company since 1994, I don't want to tier up or become an MME.
