Our company recently outsourced us and we are being offered jobs w M-Modal.  I have seen all of the negative comments but I was wondering how bad the pay is.  I typed about 220 lines/hour doing straight typing and they are saying their average for voice rec is 220/lines per hour.  If that were the case you'd be making nothing!  Can anyone give me any input?  Thanks!

Was with the company over seven years, after being bought out. I was tier 2 and made .045 on speech rec and .09 on straight typing, which wasn't often.

After 8 years and an SHDA (QA/MT hybrid) - My pay

I make 8 cpl straight, 4.8 cpl voice wreck, 4 cpl to full proof reports, and 3 cpl to fill in blanks.

But don't think 4 and 3 are good when doing QA work. I bring in more per hour doing voice wreck.

It doesn't matter what they offer you; it could be 10 cpl and 6 cpl for VR; you will have horrible accounts and out of work most of the time. You will be picked to death by QA and made to feel lower than dirt. You will not work on the account you are on now, despite what they might say. This company LIES and they will say anything to bring you on board and then treat you like a piece of garbage and you will be applying for partial UE or making minimum wage. If you have read these posts, that should be enough of a warning not to work for M*M nor Nuance or any of these companies for that matter. Everything is going to India and we get the crumbs! If they make you an offer you can't seem to refuse, make sure you get it in writing and I would have an attorney check it over. Again, you have been forewarned, don't fall for M*Modal's spin! RUN, unless you want to work for no money, take excessive abuse, horrible dictation and a million and one client profiles, then have at it. I would warn everyone of your co-workers as well. I wish enough MTs would take a stand against this place and quit and let them do the work. They deserve it.

Thanks guys. I'm going to decline and take a big pay cut and find some office work. It's unfortunate that we have new careers after decades in this field but MT's are a thing of the past.

I would encourage you to alert your co-workers and any or all of you that refuse to work for this company, please send them a letter stating why. That you have read horrible reviews of their company and treatment of their employees. Just not taking the job, won't bother them at all. Probably writing a letter won't either, but at least you had your say and I would cc the hospital and/or clinic where you work. MM gets away with employee murder, because no one speaks up, they just up and quit or get fired and move on.

When I left, I wrote to the account I was working on, which they since lost, probably not because of my letter, but I told them what was up with MM. I also wrote to Corporate at MM; again, probably fell in the wastebasket before it was read or partially read, because I really threw the foul language them, but I felt I took some action. Also if felt good for the first time to say what I really felt about MM and told them so. I was a doormat for too long.

It has even been made difficult to impossible to find anyone's MM email address. I would so like to write to Shaw and give him a piece of my mind.

Writing to the client can have bad legal consequences for the writer if they find out it was done and by whom.

We were screwed major time in the law suit.

Try to tell IT anything (you can submit suggestions), and they just plain don't understand. How many issues have they not resolved! It was much better before IT went off shore.

The only viable option is to train for another line of work (which I am doing) or find the needle in the haystack of a decent transcription job.

MM speech recognition is horrible and is not getting any better. I have gone from $20 hour to minimum wage. Also, they have raised the required QA score minimum to 99.5%. They are QA'ing people to death and marking off for niggly little "grammar" errors such as commas, etc. despite the doctor's lack of grammar ability and the fact we cannot really change the it or the "software won't learn". I am about to be put in "performance management" for a score of 99.4%, and I disagree with what I was marked off for. Never mind that this niggly "error" has no effect on readability or patient care. I can type a darn pretty report if I could transcribe the way we did back in the old days; keep the content, pretty up the grammar and make the doctor look good.

It is as horrid as you can imagine. There have been a few news stories about a hospital that outsourced to MM and employees, after researching what this place is really like versus the lies MM tells them, decided to decline MM's offer.

I have gone back to school and can't wait to get out of here. If it wasn't for friends, I would have nowhere to live. I am currently renting a bedroom from a friend. It is sad and depressing to work for this place and especially hard to take when you are essentially being told you are a horrible transcriptionist for getting 99.4%

I thought they were 2 different services.  Everyone is buying out everyone, so who knows.  All the small companies have been merged I guess.  I thought Nuance was out of New York and were the primary with VR.  Maybe one has to keep up with the changes and be a member and pay the dues and go to the meetings with AAMT and be a CMT to keep up with the changes, even though you still get 4 cents. ...

I have another question.  When one does a draft in VR, does MT get paid for all lines in the draft or would an MT get paid if it has to be edited.  I will be trying to learn this in the next few weeks and I am scared to death I will not catch on and then I might be without a job.   I have a feeling I might not get paid for the whole draft report.  Then again it may depend on the company.  Any opinions please.   Thanks  ...

Our hospital is supposed to make the decision tomorrow if they are going to keep our work in-house or outsource to M*Modal.  I want to make an informed decision when and if we are told we are going with M*Modal.  Do you get holidays?  How is the pay?  Flexible schedule?  What about our vacations that are already scheduled?  If they hire us will we still be on our same accounts? I am thinking about testing for acute care transcription with M*Modal. But, when I went to their web site I see they are owned by someone in India? Is that for real? Would appreciate feedback from anyone using M-Modal, especially Webmedx Enterprise MTs. Dreading the conversion and wondering if my fears are well founded. I'm pretty fast straight typing but rarely get more than 50 lines more an hour with current VR. Seems all it takes is just one lousy report to negate the lines made on the decent reports. Afraid it's just going to be worse with M-Modal and the whole drop-down heading thing. Anyone have any encouragement to offer? ...

I know there are a lot of comments on here about M-modal being horrible and I have to definitely agreed, it is the only VR I have used so nothing to really compare it to but cannot do many more lines per hour than I transcribe (usually about 275 lph or so), anyone willing to share how much they do on M-modal and how long the account has been on VR?  Just my curiosity since I don't seem to make any progress in increasing my lines per hour.  Thanks in advance. ...

Does anyone know how an MT is compensated when they begin using M*Modal and basically editing?  If paid by the line, if M*Modal creates a report consiisting of 75 lines, and you edit a few lines here and there, are you paid for the entire report (the full 75 lines) or just paid for what lines you edit?  ...
