Diabetic ghetto acidosis (nm) - snicker

Must be the brilliant ASR that also hears been a car. - no name

ASR -- the second reason MTs can't make a living now.

at a van, cabbage, etc. - Awful Speech Recognition

I mean, I can understand cabbage/CABG thing, cabbage the vegetable is such a frequently used word in medical reports.

In 10 years, I don't think I have ever had to type cabbage. Can't they go in and change that?

I literally typed cabbage once not long ago. - no name

I have "cabbage" in Autocorrect to change to CABG when a space is put at the end to try to save keystrokes in the beloved ASR editing, and when I literally typed "cabbage," it changed it. I had to manually change it back. Only time in 20 years. I think changing CABG to cabbage would be way better than vice versa.

ASR - old and burned out

Your bloopers are at least close in sound. How about the doctor saying "idiopathic neuropathy" and ASR producing "a passing pin." No kidding!!

I have been noticing more and more of this. - no name

The text is so crazy and off the wall I sometimes lose my place editing and have to back up a few words to get back in the groove. Don't know what is up with that -- text that is just totally different and sounds NOTHING like what is actually said. Happens quite frequently.
It seems to be getting much worse and it's not the doctor's fault. - nm

ASR - verla

OMG!! This is what I picture with the ASR -- if it can't decipher it at all there is probably a listing of garbage and it defaults to that no matter if it comes close to the sounding of the word.

And management is so proud of their ASR - what a crock!! It does not learn what a human can do, but they've made us all monkeys anyway, right, so monkey in, monkey out - please monkeys, no disrespect to you - ha!

Jan 12, 2011

Hello! :) The doctor dictated something that sounds like "astake" strips, and I'm completely stumped. The patient is a type 2 diabetic, and the sentence context is: "She will continue NPH 50 in the morning and then change her to NovoLog 8 in the morning, 8 in the evening. I refilled her (astake???) strips. Unfamiliar Diabetic Term
Apr 21, 2011

In the diagnosis section of the consultation report, the doctor dictates: "Uncontrolled hyperglycemia/HH and K." My first thought would be hemoglobin and hematocrit and potassium, but he doesn't give me enough information in the rest of the report to be certain of this.  The only values he gives are a blood sugar of 730 and a hemoglobin of 14.7.  Any thoughts on this? ...
