Hard to sit here and work on acounts I have not done in a very LONG time while family is getting ready to leave for a cook-out.  Imagine work will run out mid-shift but too late for me to go to cook-out.  That's the hard thiing about working holidays.  Oh well, it least it helps pay some of the bills.

Got 2-1/2 hours in and now NJA. I hate having to use PTO for this. I hate it even more when you are asked to make it up on Saturday or Sunday.

Out now but OT offered Friday-Sunday - poor planning

So we were begged to work OT starting Friday through yesterday with even an incentive offered for part of the weekend and now Monday afternoon out of work. Seriously? Then I have to decide whether I am going to make up my hours or take PTO which is just insult to injury after working extra this weekend only to have no work today.

we have to call workflow person to assign more work, or you can flex time as long as you get your hours in. It seems PTO is not an option. Your right, poor planning on their part.

I'm pretty sure that goes against MM's guidelines... Supposed to be able to - take off w/o pay or PTO when NJA. nm

do not ask for volunteers to work the holidays! I am sure there are those who want to work, but for me, I wanted off but was refused so I have been checking off and on and have only worked 1 hour, while my family is at the lake. They are just trying to cover their a$$ I'm sure. From what I understand, you can only use the work flow hotline if it is after hours. Oh well, at least I am getting some housework done.

I remember getting an email about such a number a few months back, but nothing really specific in it, very vague "call this number if you run out of work" type of thing. I would think before going into a holiday such as Memorial Day where lots of clinics are closed, no elective surgery, etc., that the supervisors should have sent out an email explaining clearly and defining the workflow process if it was different than the previously established NJA policy (wait 6 minutes, no job, fill out ticket, etc.) Nothing came from my supervisor and of course the supervisor is on PTO today. I got in a few hours in my shift, filled out a ticket and there better not be any flack about it.

I went and looked at the polices on the intranet; there is the work availability policy of the usual 6 minutes, etc., but nothing about a number to call for work to be assigned to you. I do believe there should be a clear policy written and in place if we are required to do so.

you fill out a ticket for no work, do you keep going back and checking or do you not work any more for the rest of your shift? It really sucks to keep checking for 8 hours.

I fill out a ticket and then submit a request for PTO for whatever is left on my shift. I don't keep checking for work. Hope this helps :)

If you don't want to burn PTO or eat the time as unpaid, hunt down the number. I was NJA for about 2 minutes before I called. She was able to reroute from another team who was buried today and I cleared about 3500 lines... I guess, at least today, it worked out okay.

I'm an MME, which means a lot of those line, about 1700 were QA and only counted for about 35%...

When the per hour line count is done, any lines that go through QA don't count as a full line. They only count as about a third of a line. So, if I do 1800 transcription/editing lines and then another 1800 QA lines, it will count as about 2400 lines instead of 3600.

per hour to make the lines done per hour fair compared to what an MT has to do per hour but a line is a line is a line. A 65 character line for us is the same as a 65 character line for an MT. I am asking because I am trying to figure out the truth of MME pay.

I do know that MME do not get paid for the report we submit. We get paid based on the MT's report. So if MT submits report with 15 blanks and we fill those 15 blanks, we still get paid based on the 15 blank job. Bad enough that on production, MME does not get paid for her time to research or send feedback, but to not get paid for the report we submit, is criminal.

And please, don't parrot back to me the company line of "but we get paid for a whole report even if it is a jump to blanks report." Just how many of those do we see? Previous few. And again, based on MM MME pay and production pay, we are not getting paid for our time to research or leave feedback.

The other MM excuse as to why we don't get paid for the report we submit is because our lines are calculated on averages of great dictators, mediocre dictators and crap dictators. What does that mean!? None in management has been able to explain that to me. An MME does not see the great dictators, no reason for them to go to qa, we see very few mediocre dictators, we see the majority of the crap dictators. So just what does this particular MM excuse even mean.

All qa jobs are paid on the job submitted before qa. it is in the rewards program. And the pay rates names there, are the maximum that can be earned, not what we start out at. MM is just so shady.

And my favorite excuse is, MM cannot count a job twice. The program can only count a job once, the first job in the system. REALLY??!! The program can count my every keystroke, mouse click and down to the last second I am working, but they cant figure out how to count a job twice??

I have worked at several different MTSOs, on several different platforms and I have always been paid hourly, or at the worse, based on the job I submit. Only MM could figure out a way to screw us this way.

This is used to figure out your production rates, not your pay. Basically, from my previous example, if I produce 3600 lines with 1800 QA, my production in 8 hours is actually only 2400 lines and I'm producing 300 lph. They use this to track compliance with hourly production only...

never know when dictators will decide to dictate. They cannot assume a holiday will be slow, there is no way to know that for 100% certainty.

If you run out of work for over 15 minutes, you're supposed to fill out a ticket & take the rest of the day off, without even checking to see if work comes in later?  Won't they be mad that you didn't check back since it's a holiday?  But then on the other hand, if they've made you clock out & take PTO instead, then I guess you couldn't check back even if you wanted to...?  I don't really understand the point in making everyone work holid ...

Just got the email today that effective 10/01/2010, my MTSO (whom I will not name) will no longer be paying holiday pay (aka 1.5 cpl) for any holidays anymore b/c of "the economy." R U *** kidding me? First of all, I thought that the recession was officially over in 2009, but I could be mistaken. Secondly, I know holiday pay and OT and all that is a "perk" and not required by law to pay us, but yet they expect us MTs, er me, to work all major holidays for the same crappy cpl as always ...

Just wanted to say Happy Holidays to everybody and hope they have a great time and a great holiday! This was our first time decorating and shopping as well as sending cards and stuff in over 7 years due to severe pain and financial issues. It feels so good to do normal things during the holiday this year, although it took numerous doctors appointments to do so.
