Dislike on posts - mtinmi

I am just curious as to why some choose to Dislike a post when it is another just voicing an opinion, venting or just asking a question. To me this is a place to communicate with other transcriptionists since most of us work at home and others in our lives really don't understand what we are talking about. I realize everyone is entitled to their opinion and many read the posts. Maybe I should not pay attention to the dislikes, but a lot of times I find them rude. Yes, I have disliked some but only when I truly disliked them.

think of it as an agree/disagree option, and not so personal. - an opninion itself to a posted opinion. NM

The "disliker" dislikes everything including things no one could dislike for instance a posts like "Got a job outside MT" or "They caught the I-5 killer".

This is probably the same person who twists the comments, accuses posters of saying things they did not say and consistently leaves rude comments. I don't know whey she has not been banned.

Another MT I know who used to post here was banned for listing a URL in her post that was from an ad on this forum linking to possible job opportunities! So the criteria used for banning members baffles me.

People are going to disagree - I've often wondered why Facebook doesn't have a "Dislike" button. Anyway, you don't know that it is the same person doing all the disliking. Also, it's pretty easy to accidentally click the wrong button - I have done that when I didn't mean to. It is not possible to change's one's IP address over and over, most people have static addresses. The person would have to physically move to a different spot to change their IP address.

What other people think about me is none of my business. I never even look at the likes and dislikes -- think it is an odd feature. Why would anyone bother to "vote" on someone's opinion.

Thanks for posting, mtinmi, as this is a chronic problem. It is too bad that such rudeness is allowed.

It doesn't make any sense to open a post about "Dislikes" knowing it is about dislikes and dislike it. The only purpose in opening such a post is to look for something to complain about. When a hate monger searches and can't find anything she can convince her friends to hate, she makes something up by twisting and misquoting, as she has done on this thread.

I doubt that more than one dislike even came from any regulars on this forum.

Back when there actually were 500 to 800 on the site reading at any given time of the day. A lot of people wanted to voice an opinion without having to write some justification for it. There were a whole of a lot more threads to sift through, with the average one half a page long, and subjects were different all the time. Was a fun place when transcription was respectable. Sure there were gripes, but not 100% of the time.

Feel free to take yours up with the moderators anytime.

It is really interesting that a simple question can result in such a variety of emotions. Rose, thank you for your honest response and opinion. The postings I see from you are usually positive. Many of the others, thank you for being supportive about ignoring the dislikes. I was just trying to understand some of the negative I see on the postings/dislikes. Once again, thanks to all that took the time to post.

I'm not booing the OP but more like I hate what happened to them or it made me sad or that sucks kinda thing. I try to use only Like or not vote at all so it doesn't get miscontrued.

Information gets thrown at you through training, and it doesn't all absorb right away, and you don't know what you're doing for a while. i hate that feeling of not being confident working with the software. I am amazed at how many people ask the same question year after year about company after company. Companies have until 1/31 to mail W2s. The bigger the company, the longer it takes to finish up the previous year's books and have W2s ready to print.
