Should chlamydia and gardnerella be capitalized?

What, again??? - Winnie

My word, here you are again ... asking working MTs to help you cheat .. look in your reference material and find your own answer. Unreal.

Your Rude!!!! - Karie

Sorry but I think you are rude!! If I would have found it in my reference material I wouldn't have asked!!! I have seen it capitalized and not capitalized that is why I was asking!!

Sorry but I think you are a student - Winnie

I recognize these questions from testing material at 2 schools where you could be a student and while I may be rude I am concerned that you are not doing your own work. I will be more concerned when and if you are doing live work and don't know these things that are taught while a student. I certainly hope that you will never transcribe my medical records.
I think so too. Good call, and I wouldn't be - apologizing.

she got a reply a few posts down with a 'cheat sheet' but - requires figuring it out, not the actual answer SM

Blatently not looking here to learn, and I have to agree with Winnnie in that I fear for the future of this profession as well as OUR future as MTs if this is the mentality the schools are cranking out - leaving us no argument against VR when the facilities go shopping.

To original poster - passing this way is setting yourself up to fail your entire future one job at a time. That's a lot of rejection, heartache. The good news is, it is early enough to get serious about becomimg an MT, but your goal can't be to work at home.

And check your material for difference between contractions - and possessive pronouns.nm

Too funny!! - Winnie

I have to admit that made me laugh!! I came back on to make a comment about that but you got it first. I hope anyone who reads this understands that I am pretty sure that this person asking questions is a student who should know better than to cheat. It just frosts me to see this sort of behavior. Apparently the notion of learning properly does not apply here.

Our Rude? We don't have a rude! A couple of questions: What school do you go do? Do they teach grammar and writing? Just asking.

a) Google
b) Google
c) Google

All of these are in lieu of the type of education that allows you to know that answer.

Exactly, Karie. Posting those questions here is a waste - of time. Learn to look answers up

Yes, google, google, google. Also, Wikipedia. Also MT Book of Style.

The claim that it isn't in your references falls on deaf ears here. Whatever school you are attending has not provided you with EVERYTHING in those references. You either selected an inappropriate school or you aren't bothering to follow the school's instructions on how to find what you need, because someone at that school should have told you that this occupation requires research skills.

You have the entire world at your fingertips via the internet. We use it and so should you.

We don't mind answering questions if they are the right sort of questions. You asked questions that just demanded an answer . . . "tell me if this is capitalized." The problem with that kind of question is that the information you want isn't what you need. It won't help you understand WHY they are capitalized and that won't help you learn. Next time you see an organism name, what do you plan to do? Come here and ask about each and every one?

The right kind of question explains what you already did to find the answer. For instance, it tells what you found when you googled, or what you found in the MT Book of Style, or what you found on Wikipedia. It asks you for instructions on how to fish, not for a fish sandwich.

Your instructors should be helping you with this. If they aren't, then you need to ask them. If you have no instructors, then you attended the wrong school.

Something else they do not seem to have mentioned to you . . . MT is a healthcare profession. It is not pole-dancing, bartending, or waitressing at H**ters.

Healthcare professions come with a requirement for professional behavior, which includes honesty, ethics, confidentiality, and discretion. Your question alone indicates that you either were not informed of this or you don't understand the concept.

You might not have realized it, but the responses to your posts have been trying to communicate this. They have been telling you that it is considered inappropriate for students to ask for the kind of answers that you have been asking for. It is considered unprofessional and unethical behavior to do this.

You wanted help from us and you got it . . . we told you to use your available resources (Google). Instead of becoming hostile, consider that we might have your best interest at heart. You can actually learn something here and you might be able to find a mentor to help you.

You got the information you required, even if you do not yet recognize it, as well as some bonus information about the difference between "your" and "you're," and about ethical behavior as it pertains to healthcare.

Capitalization - Department Is Used As An Entity
Aug 30, 2011

I have always been under the impression that when a department is used as an entity, such as "The patient was seen by the Pulmonary Department," that it would be capitalized.  If it were "The patient was seen in the pulmonary department," it would not be capitalized.  This is to denote that in the first example, the patient was actually seen by a person, not by the department itself (a thing).  I think this is an important distinction for clarity.  The account I am on is saying that pulmo ...
