ANYONE EVER GET PAID PER TYPED PAGE?? - NEED ADVICE

Posted: May 07, 2013

I am working for a new company and they have different pay rates for different accounts. They are offering for a new account to pay $1.00 per typed (double-spaced)page. I've never been paid per page before, always per line. Is this a good rate? It honestly seems kind of low to me.

Back in 1980, I think I started at 50 cents a page, then 75 and finally I think I was at a dollar, but that was probably in the late 1980s. They weren't double spaced, though. It was always a great joy when you managed to get just a few lines onto an additional page.

Nowadays, it doesn't sound like much, but it depends on the reports, too. If there are a lot of short reports, it's great, or if there are a lot of reports that just go a line or two onto a second page, it's not bad. You'd have to see how much you could do in an hour.

About 3 years ago, I did sleep study reports and was paid per page. It was $3.75 which was okay. The only thing I did not like about it was that we had to edit some reports (sentence structure, etc). A couple of the docs were really bad with grammar and punctuation so that had to be corrected.

I did but at $4 per page and lots of templates. I made a lot of money; however, I worked unbelievable hours with lots of macros and templates.

Smartype Line Will Not Move With The Page So When I Get To The Bottom Of The Page
Mar 09, 2011

I have a question about Smartype and I will try to make it so it is understandable:)  I bought Instant Text because I had to have some way of moving my Smartype over into Word 2007 (I had Word 2002).  I have Instant Text turned off until I learn the new platform on the new company I am with.  My problem is this, the Smartype line will not move with the page so when I get to the bottom of the page it covers up everything at the bottom and I can only manually move Smartype by scrolling back up ...

I am interviewing for a job that would be three days in office and two days at home.  They requested my salary requirements, and would like to know what I would charge per page and half page for work done outside of the office.  I have never had to worry about this before, and I am not sure what to say.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!  I have been an MT for four years, two in a hospital and two working from home for different doctor's offices. ...

Question For MTs Who Typed On Typewriters
Feb 07, 2014

I am asking this just out of curiosity.  If you type on a typewriter way back when, what did you do when they asked you to go back and add something or when you got to the end and they said, "Cancel this dictation?"  How in the world did you stay productive when you simply couldn't delete something or add lines and reformat easily?  My hats off to you all...must have been difficult to learn something new, but computer typing versus the typewriter, it's got to be better n ...
