I'm studying to take the CCS Exam - TestTaker

Posted: May 27, 2013

I'm studying to take the CCS Exam.  Has anyone taken it and could you give me a few pointers?  Were you able to finish the test in the four hours given?

Yes, I did finish.

They would not have set the time at 4 hours if it was not possible to finish in 4 hours. However, not everyone will finish. You have to be productive and focused.

Also, do not spend too much time on questions you are struggling with, like for me it was the DRG computation stuff! You can go back to them later but do what you know first.

Good grief! Why would people dislike this? - ???

It is a statement of fact!

They aren't setting up something impossible! It is timed so that you should be able to finish. You just have to keep focused and moving.

I finished with 6 minutes to spare, but it was because I got off track filling in answers. I had to go back through 3 cases, erase what I had entered, and reenter it in the right places. Fortunately, I wrote down the codes as I went, so I didn't have to recode anything. It still took me a half hour to do that. I would have finished about 40 minutes early if it had not been for that.

Some coders don't finish, but they still pass. Others finish but don't pass. Some get up and walk out.

You just have to try. Make a good effort and see how it goes.
