Transform and MD-IT - confused

Posted: Jan 22, 2011

Transform (Wyoming) told us all they merged with MD-IT, but there is nothing on MD-IT website to signify anything...

Did Transform instead totally sell out to them?

MD-IT just got financing and is probably going to buy out several smaller MTSOs - No one is safe

[ In Reply To ..]

That is probably because they do not want to pay someone to update their website every week.

This was just announced in January of 2011.  It sounds like they are in discussions with several smaller MTSOs and probably will not make an official statement or change their website until a bunch are finalized.

Looks like no one is safe.  Pretty soon there will be very few small MTSOs, which means

MTs will have less choices as to who they want to work for.  Sad state of affairs.

MD-IT, a provder of medical transcription services and software to physicians and ambulatory clinics, announced today that it has completed a $3 million private placement of Series A preferred stock. The financing will be used to fund the company's continued growth through acquisition of regional transcription companies, as well as to expand its sales and marketing activities and enable additional investment in its technology platforms.

About MD-IT
MD-IT provides Intelligent Transcription services and software to over 1900 physicians and clinicians in 280 medical practices and clinics throughout the United States. The company combines the benefits of local office ownership with the resources of a national company to offer personalized service supported by leading technology. The privately held company is located in Boulder, CO, with regional offices in Colorado, Florida, Maryland, Minnesota and Texas.

Can either of them be trusted to be up front? Could they be sub-subsidiaries of some bigger conglomerte?

MD-IT - what it is

[ In Reply To ..]
The entire company is made up of other companies. It's not a state secret. It's not something being done in an underhanded manner.

They centralize things like payroll and other HR duties, marketing, etc.

So Transform will cease to BE Transform and instead will be one of the MD-IT offices. This also came about last spring and if you work at Transform, you have been privvy to some of the changes that have been taking place. Why try to start trouble?

MD-IT/Transform - Concerning

[ In Reply To ..]
In reply to What It Is, I do not feel anyone is trying to start any trouble in this subject at all. This merger has caused a lot of concern for Transform employees and is understandable.
Transform has merged with MD-IT; yes that is true and we were privvy to SOME changes, such as the centralized items you mentioned above, the merger with MD-IT, and emails about the pay scale change, benefits etc.
I know myself I am confused and concerned. I am beginning to wonder if anyone's job is secure since the merger. Just within the last 4-5 months ago, apparently, a few employees have been let go without any notice. I know that one of those employees was dedicated to her work, honest, helpful to everyone who needed it, and very hard working. It is not my place to judge why this happened as no one can, but I guess I have to agree with maybe no one is safe. This is just my opinion.

A few facts and my opinion - (sm)

Technically the main company name is MDnetwork – Transform is the branch of MDnetwork that deals with ICs, and people who choose employee status are part of MDnetwork. MDnetwork and MD-IT did merge (it was not a buyout), but Transform was not part of that at all.

Transform is still who it has always been, and the same people still own and run it. Nothing has really changed for Transform. I̢۪m actually an employee for MDnetwork and I was part of the merger, but I can honestly say that nothing has changed for me since the merger except who my check comes from and the fact that we now have a benefits package that includes medical coverage.

I also heard that some people were let go, but I don̢۪t think it had anything to do with MD-IT. I know that some of the accounts switched over to working on an EMR without much notice and the volumes on those accounts dropped way down. The HR department forwarded MTs on the affected accounts a letter from the CEO himself explaining what was happening. HR instituted a hiring freeze and went to work trying to move those out-of-work MTs to other accounts. I would guess they also probably let go a few people who were part time, lower producers, or had quality issues so they could protect those full time MTs with higher quality. I know a few of the MTs who had their primary account volumes drop down, but they said that the HR department and the account managers really tried to keep them working. Sadly, this is just something that can happen in the industry nowadays, and no one is exempt from it.

No doubt there have been a lot of changes recently, some better than others, and it can be kind of worrying, but I think that anyone who is worried or has questions should just be brave enough to ask HR or their account manager for the facts.
Well, that's partially true - Ex-TransformMT

Transform merged with MDnetwork a couple of years ago, although our work structure didn't change (our paychecks and W2s said MDnetwork). We were effected just the same with the merge with MD-IT. We were only going to have to learn a timecard system and would be eligible for MD-IT benefits.

It is true that Transform lost some doctors to EMR. I lost one of the three doctors that I had been typing for years. He switched to Dragon with no warning whatsoever. We found out two weeks after he switched that he wasn't on vacation. I asked on more than one occasion to be cross-trained on another account (had already been informed that there was no extra work available on my account), but never received any reply. I was full-time, a high line producer (when I had 3 doctors) and I had never been told of any quality issue. I woke up one morning to be locked out of my program and then received an email stating "due to recent changes in your account and the lack of work availability, you are being released from employment, as of today. Good luck to you." That fuzzy little note from the owner explaining what was happening was added into my "pink slip" email. I never received any such communication before that day. While I knew my account had lost at least two doctors to Dragon, being told that just the week before, there was absolutely no warning in my job ending.

Luckily, I was an employee, so I qualify for unemployment. I am trying to recover, but it is really a kick in the pants to be fired after 9 years of employment. Just to add a little salt to the wound, I was finally going to be able to get insurance that I could afford. They even let me fax in my enrollment package the day before I got canned, and they didn't have the decency to call the insurance company and stop the process. I received my "new" insurance cards two weeks later. I'm sorry, but they had to know the day before that they were letting people go. That was a crappy way to do it.

Downsizing is happening to every industry in the nation, so I guess I am just going to have to deal with it, but the above poster is absolutely correct. "No one is safe."

Transform Scam?
Sep 28, 2010

Is anybody else going through this?  Transform used to be a great company, been there for years making good pay, good accounts.  Lately they have just insituted this fancy new "pay" system where our base pay has been decimated but we get to make up some of it up by jumping through all these hoops, like typing more than 1000 lines gets you a percentage increase (percentage of what), using typing keyboard "shortcuts" gets you more crumbs here and there.  In the end we really don ...
