SoftScript has bait and switch listings up again. Please take a minute and read over recent posts regarding SoftScript's techniques to employ MTs. How many mentors and Q coordinators can they really need? They post these fictitious positions, hire as many people as they can for these positions, and a few days after being hired, no one will be the "right fit." At that point, all these people will then be asked to leave or stay on as an MT. PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR TACTICTS. Their recruiter is Debra, who by the way has never been an MT. Take the time to look at all their job listings on mtjobs.com. They list these same positions every week. As far as their "sign on bonuses," they always find a reason that make you ineligible. WE NEED TO STICK TOGETHER ON EDUCATING EVERYONE ABOUT THIS COMPANY. If you have had a similar experience with this company, please let your voice be heard here. Shout it out loud so no one else will be a victim of their games.

This is a desperate company. They can't get an MT to work for them anymore so they have to resort to these tactics to try to trick people into working for them. I am sure they get some to stay that way, however, anyone who does stay with them deserves to be cheated out of money like they are. If you work and support these scam companies, you are contributing to the fail of the MT industry. If you want the industry to clean up, do the right thing and force companies like this OUT OF BUSINESS. You all hold the keys, all you have to do is simply stop working for them. Quit supporting them. When a company is constantly hiring in an industry that is having a huge reduction in workflow, don't be foolish enough to think they have that much work. They just have that much turnover. People get hired, figure them out, and then quit once they know they have been scammed. BAD SIGN PEOPLE. This company advertises on multiple boards, at least 4-5 different ones or more. Their recruiter is deceptive and is backed by a deceptive company. Just beware!

I copied this from my message below as I felt it was needed here as well. Thanks for keeping this issue in the spotlight for everyone to see.

They always list jobs because they run a bait & switch scam. I, unfortunately, was one of their victims. I literally had three offer letters from them. The first one was great, hourly pay, great hours and days. The next offer letter said the first was a mistake and that only the training was hourly. I received the second offer letter the second week there. The third offer letter came two days after the second offer letter. This offer letter stated the line rate would now be 8.5 cpl instead of 9 cpl. When I recieved this third offer letter, I also got a call from HR. And just like everyone else has stated here, I was told I was not the right fit for their mentor position. I was, however, asked to stay on as an MT. At that point, I asked if I stay on as an MT, am I eligible for the sign on bonus, and of course they said no. I have been in this buisness for 20 years as an CMT, QA, QC, and as a shift lead. If someone with my credentials is not the right fit, who is?

I think this is why they don't post jobs on this website, - just saying.

I totally agree with what you have said and I have been saying the same thing every chance I get about M*M, Nuance and other MTSOs that screw over their MTs and treat them poorly and don't pay squat. How long is it going to take for us to get away from these places and their lies and no work and minimum wage salary and their horrible VR and picky, picky, picky QA and being punished for a comma out of place or something stupid like that? Leave them, let them fend for themselves, let them send it to India and correct all the errors or not and lose the accounts. These hospitals/clinics need to be accountable as well and stop looking at the bottom line, when you know they can afford quality transcription work. These services lie to them as well and they just go along and never question.

When MTs lose accounts and are offered jobs to these companies, don't take them, notify the hospital/clinic where you work and tell them how horrible these companies are and who is actually doing their work and then leave. I just don't know how MTs can make an impact other than just quitting and then there will always be the hangers on who can do the grunt work of cleaning up off shore transcription. It is a sad in so many ways. I love being an MT, love working at home, have always enjoyed my work, especially for hospitals, but no longer. I do clinic notes and this will be my last MT job. I look everyday for something else.

SoftScript should be called Bait and SwitchScript! - Better fit for such a deceptive company.

I just want to take a minute to say that not all employees of Softscript are working for the downfall of the MT indusry and/or the idiots that some of you claim they must be. I have worked for them in various positions for 5 years. I worked in the MT position I was offered, received a signing bonus when pronmised and then switched to editing. I am sorry people have had a bad experience but I am very happy with Softscript and so are many others. Remember, like in many aspects of society, you only hear from people who are unhappy. Those who are happy usually don't post.

Keep sticking together MTs and communicating your experiences as when a company has to do this just to get people to work for them, you know they are bad. If the company is so good, they should have people flocking to them to work for them, and that doesn't seem to be the case here does it. Word of mouth and reputation - the most important tool you will all have in this industry. Beware of companies that need to come on here and sing their own praises and those who have to continuously advertise.NEWS FLASH - THIS IS SIMPLE COMPANIES - PAY the MTs what they are worth - in case you have forgotten, they are skilled individuals; they work hard and should be rewarded for hard work; they shouldn't be lied to; they shouldn't be given false promises; and bait and switch companies should FOLD. Keep protecting yourselves MTs and don't be sucked in by this crap!!!

I have noticed a significant decline in my line count with Softscript ever since their blooper that happened on MT week. I dont really understand how that has affected my line count so much but I used to type 23 jobs and get about 1000 lines. Now I type 23 jobs on the same accounts and get 700 lines. Something is wrong with this picture. I am looking for another job, I just feel like I'm wasting my time. ...

I tried applying for that job once, but they said that they wanted "recent" experience and the last time I did pathology was in 2001. And yet, they keep advertising for that position. I've not been working for SS very long and have been doing QA for them. I was wondering if anyone who reads this board is a QA, or has been a QA, for SS and, if so, do they audit you? How strict are the audits? What happens if you don't make the score? I have a friend who used to work for SS a couple years ago and she said that she quit because the audits were "nitpicky." Have over 10 years experience, have applied twice, have left my shift to work open. Have nothing against me, great references. Their email address they provide on their website when submitting emails to returns stating not a working email/no longer exists...Not one reply back. Do not answer their phones. Oh my goodness! I cannot believe SoftScript is still running their bait and switch scam. They have posted jobs for trainers, mentors, Q coordinators, and managers at least a dozen times in the past month. Once again, this is just a sham to get MTs! Sounds very possible that SS will go the way of TRS and MDI. The posts below sound eerily similar to the TRS and MDI sagas. If I were a betting man, I’d wager that, like TRS and MDI, the company will fail/sell out and be absorbed by a bigger one. What does anybody know about a company called Softscript and what do they think -- I think Medical Transcriptionists are being ripped off. I have worked for 3 major transcription companies; and have watched my income steadily decline. I've been doing this work for 23 years and wish I knew how to do something else.
