Hi everyone,

I would like to know if anyone else has recently applied to Softscript for a typing test and was told they did NOT pass?

I have been a very good MT for about 25 years and was very surprised to be told about this! They didn't send me the corrections, either!

They pay well, do straight typing are probably swamped with applications and instead of saying that, they choose to tell you that you did not pass. They were cocky when I worked there. One of the managers was the administrator on MT Chat and need I say more...

I havent recently, but that was the first company that I ever worked for and had only about 3 months of experience helping a lady with accounts of her own. I passed, but back then MT jobs were plentiful. I left in the correct manner and gave them a 2 week notice and when I tried to go back about 3 months ago, they said I was not eligible for rehire. I talked to someone in HR because I worked there about 7 years and he told me the same thing. I believe they are super super picky now, because they are one of the only ones that still do straight typing and pays well..you probably passed.

I applied and the same thing happened to me. They are very picky, but I have read rather negative posts about them as well, so who knows. Just move on. Those tests are a real morale breaker for sure. I don't know how many I have not passed and yet I work as an MT and do just fine! Where I work now, I had three dictations that pertained to the account I am working on and passed; didn't have to spend all that time and almost be a premed student or English major to pass. It's a bugger out there. Also I applied at Nuance and did pass, but decided not to work for them because of negative posts; too much like MM which I bailed on about four years ago. Good Luck!

I worked there for several years and at first it was fantastic, among the best jobs I ever had. Then my last year there it was constant out of work, constant nasty e-mails sent to everyone bawling us out, then they cut PTO to almost nothing. I had 3 months of not being able to get any work and finally just quit.

And, while it is straight typing, the platform is extremely bad and they are nitpicky beyond comprehension.

After being scared to death to make a change (or mistake) I revamped my resume and faxed it for a job for a non-profit organization working for those with disabilities. Hey! I've just recently moved and quit my transcription job working in a hospital. I'm actually looking to work for an online company but am really leary about scams. I wanted to apply with Medquist since I've seen people talking about it, but one of the first things they want is my ssn. That just seemed odd to me. Any opinions on this? I'm usually not stupid, really, but I've tried for several days to sign on on the Nuance site application page but don't ever get the "two words with a space" right. First of all, I see a word and a box with a number--do I type both of those, counting the number as a word? Hasn't worked so far. I tried "unscrambling" the word I saw and making it 2 words, but that only worked once and I still didn't get into the application part. Can someone please clue me in? ...

I am trying to apply at Globespan but when I try to download my resume onto the online application I keep getting an error message. You are supposed to download it in Word or pdf format. as though they have a very complicated application process. Just reading the instructions had me cross-eyed. Also, in addition to the written test, application, they also WANT 6 VOICE FILES TRANSCRIBED for their testing?? This seems a bit excessive to me... esp. since they have not given any details re. their pay rate, etc. ...

I do not quite understand this - does this mean they provide a "consent" if they want me to go further and take the test ?? with CBS Transcription. The recruiter provided test results which has not happened on the few times I tested for a company. Her emails were not canned text and she was quite pleasant. Unfortunately, CBS uses Express Scribe which is an AWFUL program now. I could not get the auto backstep to work no matter what I did with the settings. Not sure how one could make any money using that. ...
