Question about WordZXpressed line count - anon

Posted: Jun 13, 2011

Do they pay by 65-character line with/without spaces?

wordZXpressed Line Count - WordZMT

I have been with wordZ for 9 years now. They have always paid on a 65 character line WITH spaces.

Hope this helps.

Thanks a bunch! - sm

That does help a lot!!! :)

Do you have to work a certain shift? Or is it just M-F with the whole day to get your line count in?

Shifts - WordZMT

[ In Reply To ..]
They want to know when you expect to work most days, so they can get in touch if they need help with a STAT or help on another account. But since I have my own docs, I just keep them current and everyone is happy. I love working on the same docs each day. Helps me pull off more audio each day. I can now usually pick up some extra work too when other MTs get behind.

Sounds great! I'll definitely check them out! I had heard they only pay 7.5 cpl, but with the benefits of employee status and consistent docs, it sounds like there is potential for decent paychecks. I'm definitely tired of the IC world of fighting over crappy pool work.

It is 7.5 cpl. I think you get a bump if you pass your CMT. I have never needed to. Happy with what I am making. I know plenty of folks on my account. There are some pool accounts, but only because they acquired the accounts that way and hired the MTs from the practices from what I heard. And they even send out something every year for MT week. My last employer never bothered. Let me know if you apply and get the job. Take care.
I passed the test!!!!!!! - anon

I'm soooooo excited! They are going to interview me this Wednesday! :)

I also work for Wordzx. I've been there 2 years. I really LOVE it there. The pay is only 7.5 per line but I always get as much work as I want. I usually type over 2000 lines a day and have NEVER, EVER run out of work in 2 years! QA NEVER bothers you and nobody micromanages. You just have to keep all your work current within the 24-hour turnaround time.

Yet another Wordz MT! - anon

I've been with Wordz for 4 years and I love it, absolutely love it. Having my own docs is amazing. I average about 2500 lines a day. The communication with the bosses alone makes it worth it.

What player do they use for the voice files? (sm) - yochana

[ In Reply To ..]
Are the voice files clear - I am SO tired of muffled dictations. Thanks!
I think... - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
I read in the archives that they use either Dictaphone or Winscribe. Perhaps one of the current WordZ MTs will come on here and verify that.
Wordz Player - another Wordz MT
[ In Reply To ..]
Correct. It's either Dictaphone or WinScribe, depending on the account you work on. My voice files are always clear with no background noise, that's not to say the dictators speak clearly all the time and don't sound muffled on their own accord. Working on the same docs day after day is a huge advantage because sometimes you know what they're going to say before they even say it.

I just use my MS Word for my platform. You can download all software from the employee portal.

Insurance is United Healthcare. You have to work 10,000 lines per pay period to qualify for insurance. It's a little expensive, but I think everyone's insurance is really going up. I have "employee + family" so mine is expensive. I also chose a lower deductible this time around.

Right from the beginning I asked if I could work a lot of lines and they didn't have a problem with it. I have always been accommodated when I need time off, etc.

Pay day is every other Friday.

Hope that helps!

Thanks so much y'all! - anon

I really appreciate your responses! I tested for Oncology on their site. Fingers crossed and praying I hear something soon! :)
Hope you get the job!! Was the dictation part (sm) - yochana

of the test hard? Good Luck!!
Tx! - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
It was typical for Oncology. Four files with two being ESLs. One was a slightly muffled talker and the other a speed talker. Basically, it was similar to most other places you test for.

Still, nothing tops the Patient First test I took. That one has been the toughest of all places that I ever tested with! Ugh!

How long... - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
did it take to hear back from them after testing?

how long? - another Wordz MT

[ In Reply To ..]
I can't remember how long it took, it was over 2 years ago. What Iremember is that I sent the recruitor an email after a few days and asked her if she received my test, etc. Then I heard back from her. From what I remember, the QA person was sick for a few days or had a family emergency or something like that so couldn't grade my test right away. The recruitor apologized profusely for it taking a while to get back to me. Just my opinion, but I think if I hadn't emailed her, I might have gotten lost in the shuffle.
I'll keep that in mind... - anon

Again, tx so much! :)
Applying at WordZ - Yet another Wordz MT
[ In Reply To ..]
I applied and heard absolutely zilch for a month, then heard from the recruiter who told me that she had never even gotten to my application until another position opened up. As is so common, they were swamped with applicants. So don't despair! Hopefully, you can test and do well. This really is a great place to work!
I'm hoping that... - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
the wait to hear something won't be too long. Oncology is usually a busy field, so hopefully a position will open soon. If I don't hear anything for a week, I thought I would follow up with an email to check and see like the above WordZ MT did. :)

VR Line Count - What Kind Of Line Production Should I Shoot For
Mar 24, 2011

I was just hired on with a company to do strictly VR. I am only going to be working part time so about 4 hours a day. I am wondering from those who do VR what kind of line production should I shoot for in 4 hours of work? What is the normal VR line count for part time? I have read that most who are working full time or 8 hours a day are doing more than 1,000, even 2,000 a day. The company I will be working for wants a minimum of 10,000 lines in a payperiod which the lady said even with part time ...

Character Count/line Count
Feb 23, 2011

Is this correct? I type 70,000 characters a day. I am paid by the 65 character line so I would divide 70,000 by 65 to get 1076, then multiple that by pay per line, say $.10 and get $107. If this is not correct then what is the formula? And what is the average number of lines per day? Thanks so much for the info. ...

Line Count...
Sep 19, 2012

I have been working for this company for about 18 month and so far so good. It was even bought out by a bigger company and everything stayed the same with no problems. They don't bother me, I do my work and everything is fine. About 6 months ago my line count started going way down and I really just chalked it up to not being able to concentrate as much because my baby started walking and basically making it impossible for me to work. For the past week my line count has about doubled. ...

Receiving Only A % Of Line Count??

Is it typical to only receive a percentage of your edited lines because "editing is faster and better" than straight transcription?  I am new to VR, but this seems odd to me.
