Oracle out of work - sm - anon

Posted: Feb 23, 2011

My friend just started and has been off of QA maybe 2 days typing full time and just ran out of work.  I am supposed to train soon to come on board.  Makes me very nervous that they overhired and are still hiring.

Out of work - NJA queen

This is the first day we have been out of work. I just turned in my resignation at my other job to work full time with Oracle and now not sure if I should have. I think they have overhired.

Absolutely NJA Queen - You left the Q for the O, right?

I think I've seen you posting on the Q board so I assume you left there for Oracle. Fortunately I only signed on for part-time at Oracle but I DID need the extra income. Were you hired for that big new 3-hospital account, too?

Im really disappointed, basically because I really liked the people, the managers were nice, the account was great and we were left alone.

It was great...while it lasted.

This is exactly what happened to me and I posted about it before (sm) - Ex-OTIer

The people are generally nice but they are notorious for overhiring. I was hired on after the clinic that I had worked with for over 18 years decided to use Oracle full-time and do away with the "MT Department." There were 8 of us transcribing for 40 doctors, we were making really good money because there was always plenty of work and once we signed on with Oracle, after about 2 weeks, the work dried up completely. At that point emails and IMs went unanswered, no one to explain what was going on. One of the ladies that I worked with at the clinic spoke with someone at Oracle and found out that they had hired some 40 MTs for this clinic. Seriously, we had 40 doctors and 8 of us were covering it, keeping it within TAT, why on earth did they hire 40 MTs??? I would sign on as early as 4 a.m. and as late as 9 p.m., hoping to catch that time when there might be some work on the system but went from transcribing 2200-2400 lines a day to 150-700 a day. Needless to say I had to find something else quick. It was heartbreaking because again, I had transcribed these doctors with this clinic for a number of years. I cannot describe how frustrating it was for emails and IMs to go unanswered, not just myself but the other ladies from the clinic as well. We would ask, beg for more work, no answers and then the emails would come out and you would see all of these other accounts either out of TAT or close to it and the number of jobs available. After about 3 months I finally found something else.

I hope that this is not the case for all of the MTs that have been recently hired but again, they are known for overhiring, you can search the archives and will find the same information.

Good luck to you all and I hope that the work picks back up!

Funny, within the past few months I resigned from Oracle for another job! - me

I couldn't take not having work for another month. I lost so much money.

Yep, even the new account is out of work - Le Sigh

Just got to where I could whip out those reports right and left and then the dreaded no work happened. It figures and we can't say we weren't warned. I just never anticipated going from over 900 jobs and pleading for MTs to work over the weekend to zippo work by mid week. Guess all 90 of the MTs they hired all decided to show up for their lines.

I've asked for backup work so I'll see how it plays out. I really like the people, loved the account, and liked being left alone to work. That makes it more disappointing than anything.

Good luck. I worked there (too long) and never had enough work. - me in PA

They totally overhire. That was my experience for 5+ years. The backup accounts were usually just tiny accounts that never had any work. I offered to work nights/mornings/weekends, whenever I could, but there was never work. Finally had to quit.

This company is (in)famous for overhiring. I will not work for a company that abuses its workers like that--and yes, overhiring is a form of abuse.

Anyone Know What's Up With Oracle/OTI?
Jan 31, 2010

I haven't had much work for months.  Since last summer actually.  Can never make minimum.  I have another part-time job so I'll survive, and I do like that company on a whole, but there has been NO WORK.  They keep promising new accounts that never happen.  Is it just me?  Are there some Oracle workers that are happy and have enough work? I know sometimes it is famine time as an MT, but this is ridiculous. I wonder if they lost some big accounts or somethi ...

Anyone Get The Job With Oracle - OTI??
Nov 13, 2012

Sounds like a pretty reasonable place to work. Hardly ever read any posts here about them so I assume, no news is good news and their employees must be fairly content. Just curious, as they seldom hire. I applied, but I am acute care/hospital transcription and they were looking for people to fill multispecialty clinic account, so folks who have an extensive background in clinic work. Just curious if anyone has started and how they like it. Also curious if there are any who have been with ...

If You Are New Or Old For Oracle OTI, Please Answer.
Oct 16, 2010

No one answers my emails when I ask why my accounts have no work. It's been going on for a very long time, but so much worse now.  I thought a new account was going ot start, but I haven't heard a word about it.  Is something going on that I don't know about?  I realize they were going to be switching to more SR and MTs weren't all that happy about it (my own pay will be 1.5 CPL lower and only 4CPL for SR work), but what happened?I absolutely hate coming to a r ...

Oracle/OTI Transcription
Dec 10, 2010

I've just started working with Oracle, and seem to like it okay so far. However, I am reading all these posts here about pay decreases, no work, and no communication. Is this all sudden and not typical of them? I'm a little worried now. I know lots of companies get bashed on this board and some for silly reasons, but I was wondering if there was any truth behind the posts here, or if it's just a few "unhappy" MTs. Anything you can share would be great! Thanks so much! ...

Oracle Update
Mar 21, 2011

I haven't seen any recent posts about a lack of work at Oracle.  Have things settled down to where everyone has sufficient work?  I'm working for them PT and have only had 1-2 occasions where I've run out of work; however, my FTE is running out of work on an increasingly frequent basis and, if there's sufficient work at Oracle, I'd be interested in switching over to them as a FT position. Any updates on the status of the work flow?  Judging from the email ...

Oracle/OTI Question
Apr 27, 2011

I know that Oracle/OTI's ASR is done on Bayscribe.  I have worked on Bayscribe before and like the platform (for straight typing anyway as that's all I've done on Bayscribe).   But my question, is Oracle's ASR as good as I've been told?  The pay that they're offering sounds pretty low, especially for an IC, but I was told that could be made up for by the increased number of lines produced.  Anyone here with experience with them?  Is i ...

Just Applied At Oracle
Jun 07, 2012

I just applied at Oracle.  I don't understand what they pay per line.  It says they have eScription as one of their platforms.  They want 3500 LPH part-time, 5000 LPH full-time.  Are they still in business or really hiring.  I was able to get onto their site but I seem to find things about them that are old - like comments.  Also, are they a big company?    Thank you.  ...
