Does Keystrokes have acute care accounts? - Mabel Brown

Posted: Dec 15, 2013

Does Keystrokes have acute care accounts?  Been reading some things about them and noticed  they do lots of radiology work.  Also what is their daily line count, does PTO accrual begin soon after hiring, do they work with you when it comes to deciding a shift (full straight 8 hour shift or split-shift). Trying to make a decision and these are some things I really need to know before deciding. Would really appreciate any information regarding my questions above.  Thank you in advance.

Line counts - KS

KS has both acute care and radiology, as well as other specialties. Requirements are 150 lines/hour. They have a timeclock and constantly check up on whether you're reaching it. Expect to get in trouble even in the first pay period if you don't reach it.

What kind of trouble? Do they watch your every move like some places?

Yep. - Ex

It depends on who you are. They do play favorites, and others some managers pick on. As an ex-lead, I suppose I was on the bottom end of the pecking order.

Their latest ad offers accounts WITHOUT spaces, so figure it will take longer to reach any kind of requirement. Thanks but no thanks, I'll look for a "fresh start" somewhere else...

You're written up if you don't make them - too

Written UP? - KSMT

Written up? I really like Keystrokes and would recommend them. I have been there 2 years and love it there. I have a great coordinator, she is very helpful. My QA people are helpful as well. I see a lot of bashing on here, but then again, some people LOVE the drama. I say, go for it. You may just find out some of these people are just unhappy any place they go!!
You had a different coordinator, then - Not the OP

Telling the truth isn't "loving drama." I was there for years, starting in 2004, and worked hard sometimes 12 hour days. Fast forward to 2011 when all the changes took place. Totally different company. Employees are written up left and right for things that previously were not a big deal (one minute of overtime, for example). One HIM coordinator and the HR person go out of their way to make everyone but their pets miserable. I have KS to thank for one thing - making me sick, tired and fed up from that profession. Thanks to that negative inspiration, I'm in nursing school which unlike MT has a future.
To answer your email, no I didn't - Ex

have the same coordinator. The one you listed is awesome. She is very fair.

I do like my coordinator. She is awesome and very helpful.

It's a VBC account, so without spaces, but pays much higher to make up for it. - GEESH

I swear if there's nothing to b**ch about, some people are not happy. Don't assume.

The ad clearly states 4.5 cpl for editing and VBC. nm - Is THAT considered higher pay for a VBC account???

Not at KS, but I only make 3 cpl for editing, so that would be good to me. sm - BrokeMT

I do OK with it, average $12 an hour, but nowhere near where I thought I would be and should be after 15 years of doing this. It's what our local hospital pays, and I can be home. They only hire PT MT's, so no benefits at the hospital, but a whole lotta drama, so I'm happy to be at home.
It's not a good rate because once you take out the 30% loss for not counting spaces the rate i - not KS either

A space is a keystroke too. Dont understand - why some places only

pay for visible black characters. You should be paid for every single keystroke you make while in that report.

Acute Care?
Sep 23, 2014

As a relative newbie MT, I'm not certain what "acute care" means. Does it mean basically all reports that are from doctors in the hospital setting? That is, would any hospital operative note, hospital progress note, and all discharge summaries be considered "acute care"? I know a clinic note is basically a note by an outpatient doctor, right? And it's basically about more minor medical problems albeit could be chronic rather than "acute." ...

Acute Care Question
Apr 29, 2013

I've been in transcription since 1998, doing clinic work for about 13 of those, then moving to acute care consisting of H&P, consults, and discharge summaries....but not op notes. I see so many jobs for acute care work, but they only want people who've done all four. My question is, how do you go about learning to do op notes in order to obtain one of those jobs? I've been tempted to fib and say I have experience just to get the job and then figured maybe I could learn on the job ...
