Accentus Acute Care - Carol

Posted: Mar 23, 2013

Does anyone know why Accentus Acute Care seems to always have the same job ad hiring for acute care MTs that pays a sign-on bonus?  It seems as though either they never fill these positions or they are so difficult nobody stays.  I would be interested in applying, but the last time I tried to apply with them on the ambulatory side, I could not get the voice file to work.  Is this even worth applying for?  What is their cpl rate and do they pay for spaces?  Thanks for any info.

They have lost a lot of people after Nuance took over, and there are some real problems with staffing/scheduling and the platform, thus the continuing ads. I have stayed because their pay has been above average, but that is sure to change with Nuance, so any answer to your questions above will soon be changed.

Yes, I knew they were bought out by Nuance, but was curious if these are good accounts to work on and also was interested in hearing what cpl rate they pay for this type of work.

rates vary - anon

They pay based on 55 character line, no spaces (which does calculate to about the same as a 65 character line WITH spaces). There are platinum, gold, and silver accounts. You get extra pay for the gold and platinum accounts. You also get paid a bonus based on QA percent, LPH, and quality. There are also tiers of pay based on your 4-week average LPH. So there are a lot of variables. However, I am sure this will all change very soon, probably within the next 6 months. I don't know what accounts they are hiring for, so the best thing to do if you are interested is to talk to the recruiter. (the top pay before adding the bonuses is 10 for straight typing and 6.5 for VR, star team makes more)
Yes, that pay will change to the Nuance pay - scale. I think 8.5 SM

straight and 4.63 VR with a little bump between 8 PM and 6 AM ?

I got a job there because their ad said there VR rate was 4-6.5. Well, you will only get 6.5 if you work on the most difficult accounts with lots of demos and specs and on third shift on a weekend. They offered me 5 for VR. I took the job, worked a couple of months and then needed surgery urgently. They terminated me rather than waiting for me to come back after surgery.

Once your hired, you find out you can't take any time off for the first 6 months. Then, of course, you're at the bottom of the list and everybody above you can take time off first. They want something like 4 months' advance notice to take time off. If you want to flex your hours, it is a nightmare. The staffing software is impossible and then, of course, it must be approved. Thumbs down!

By the way . . . - vlv

That offer of 5 cpl was with 36 years of experience.

Possibly they have changed the rate tier, but the top rate of 6.5 was based on your LPH speed, and you need to have a 4-week average of 320 I think it is to get that rate. Only a small percent of employees actually achieve that rate. The problems are a lot of bad dictators that are still on VR, with a ton of pauses, changing their minds, needing to look up lots of copies (you are only paid for what you type on the document, no pay for copies entered), and a pretty clunky platform. I agree with what you said about the scheduling policies/platform. Also, I was able to take time off in the first 6 months, but maybe that has changed, but it has been hard to get any time off approved lately! And those high pay rates are sure to disappear with Nuance, then you will still have the clunky platform, bad policies, and the new Nuance pay schedule :(

Accentus Acute Care Or Brietner Transcription

So, I've been offered a job with both Accentus and Brietner Transcription. I have done my research on both companies, but really struggling to pick one. Acute Care?
Sep 23, 2014

As a relative newbie MT, I'm not certain what "acute care" means. Does it mean basically all reports that are from doctors in the hospital setting? That is, would any hospital operative note, hospital progress note, and all discharge summaries be considered "acute care"? I know a clinic note is basically a note by an outpatient doctor, right? And it's basically about more minor medical problems albeit could be chronic rather than "acute." ...
