Companies that do not use MT Test site - nn

Posted: Mar 31, 2011

Have seen where veteran MTs have failed this test and been referred to Career Step for training.  Not up for an ego buster myself.  Can you tell me companies that DO NOT use this as their test site?   TIA

By no means do I want this to come across as tooting my own horn, so to speak, but I soared through the online testing on multiple sites for all of the companies I applied for a position with right out of the Career Step program. (I'm not sure if you are talking about a specific site or not, as I am still really new to this). I am only putting my 2 cents in to give you a bit of hope! I truly believe that you can succeed at anything as long as you have the heart and drive to do it. :) I wish you the best of luck if you do decide to go through with it!

of course you passed the tests with flying colors "at every site you went to". You went to career step. you think "they" don't know that? Totally unfair to everybody else, and you did come off as "tooting your own horn". jmo

Not to toot my own horn either, but I've also passed those tests. I've been an MT for 35 years and not affiliated with Career Step. It can be done.
MT Test has problems - should not be used by companies. - see below posts.

need alternative test sites - perhaps the load is too much for MT Test to handle on a technical standpoint. It obviously has problems and it's not fair to us nor the MTSO.

Not many. Seems like the smaller companies do not use MT Test site. - sm

I just went through this myself. I have been an MT for 14 years and failed a few of these tests just last month. Finally I passed one and was offered a position. It definitely hurt my ego to fail so many tests. Maybe I am not a good MT?!?!

Mttest - Something is wrong - swede

Don't feel down about this. I have 7 years experience, and here is what happened to me this week. I tested through mttest with a smaller company. Fortunately, I was in e-mail contact with the owner as I took it. The first objective test submission returned with a screen saying I don't have the qualifications...in other words, a lot wrong on the test. The owner told me the test came through to her without answers for most or all of it. She reset me, and it happened again. I now was copying my answers into Word and sending them in an e-mail to her.

Did a couple resets and got me through it. She did discover that on the page you fill out with name and address, etc., before you take the test, there was an * IN my name field. I am certain I never placed a * in the name field. She thought this messed it up. I obviously passed, because she wanted me to go through everyting to the end.

I have tried to take the TransTech test (this morning) and eTranscription this week. In both cases, I can't get past the first test and am told I don't have the qualifiations.

Did something I indicate in the personal information screen before taking the test (i.e., years of experience or expected salary) trigger my test answers to erase?

I have sent e-mails notifying both eScription and TransTech of a serious problem with their test and explained what was found by this smaller transcription company when she checked it out.

We'll see if they respond and look into this...will let you know.

Well now I wonder if that is what happened to me. sm - mqmt

I took a test at the site and went through it quickly and it said the same thing, so when I tested for another company, took my time, checked everyting and still failed. Been doing this for 17 years! Oh well.......

Don't feel bad about that. The MT Test site & CareerStep go hand in hand, - ndmt

and the testing is all the same. That is, if you have figured out how to answer the CareerStep questions in the manner they want, you will breeze through the test.

You may be the best MT in the world and not successfully navigate their test. It is all corrected automatically, so if the key is capitalized and your entry isn't, it will be marked wrong.

I know that doesn't help anyone who didn't train at CareerStep, but I think it is important that experienced people don't let it reflect on their skills too much. It might even be worth it if you are really interested in a company to ask for the opportunity for another mechanisim of testing such as one that is actually reviewed by an experienced transcriptionist.

MT Test Site Compatibility
Jul 07, 2013

I was wondering if anyone who has Windows 7 and IE 9 has been successful using the MT Test site.  I recently applied for a position and was directed to the MT Test site.  When I signed on, I received an error message that the test site was not compatible with IE 9 and it is not possible to roll back to IE 8.  I was directed to install Firefox of Google Chrome, neither of which I particularly want, and Apple Quick Time player, which I do not think will permit me to use a foot pedal ...

If so, does the version of Windows you have matter?  I have Windows 8.1 on my laptop now.  I know I am going to have to buy another computer IF I get another job as most require Windows 7 or 8.  But I'd like to wait and see if I can get a job before buying another computer, as who knows if I will actually find one.  I am hoping I can at least test on the laptop I currently have, which has 8.1.  Thanks!  ...
