I live in CA and was laid off from Nuance. No benefits other than severance pay that I know about, but you might qualify for TAA. I did. Contact your local EDD or AJC and ask about Trade Adjustment Assistance. There's an APPROVED petition (TA-W-85, 858) that expires early November 2017. Check out the FAQ Sheet de8714x and TAA Application de8309 on the EDD website. You might be eligible for career training, weekly pay equal to UE benefit amount, etc. CA also has other career training benefits available depending on income and employment status. Good luck!
