Without knowing what the medication is used for or what the patient's medical problems are, or being able to actually listen, we are really just guessing, and that's VERY dangerous! We might lead you down the wrong path! It's MUCH better just to leave a blank in those situations.
Personally, - sm

I like to get suggestions when I am stumped by a word in a dictation. I am smart enough to know that I should leave a blank unless I am absolutely certain of what I am hearing (especially with medications, dosages, etc.)Since some of my accounts do not allow the voice file to be pulled up after submission of the report, I find that suggestions while I am in the report (whether I use them or not) are very helpful. I can note what I thought was being said and compare with feedback if I find I need to leave a blank.
Yeah, I know most transcriptionists..... - Mom22dogs

....would have enough sense to research before deciding if it is the right drug, and I'm afraid I may have come off sounding a tad bit condescending. If so, I apologize. That was not my intention at all. Just putting a "caveat" out there :-)
By the way..... - Mom22dogs

....comparing what you thought they said and comparing with feedback is an excellent idea :-)

You were not condescending in the least, and I do agree that guessing is DANGEROUS. I only offer suggestions (usually with a little research to back them up), and I assume (perhaps wrongly) that the asker will verify and use good judgment in whether or not my suggestion fits. I do appreciate your point of view though, and you make a very valid point.
thanks - mtjane

I did leave a blank. I got the edited file back and it was Xarelto.
